It's actually a pretty good comparison that I didn't consider, as long as you account for the inherent discrepancy in resources.
I'm hoping he'll be a Bruce Pearl type figure, spending his energy on building the excitement and recruiting. Except without the sanctions.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnny at a couple football games early on in the season.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, man. Good info to have.

Yes. Possibly at every position group, Safety and Defensive tackle included.
It's stories like this that make me angry when people make assumptions about Athletes. I read a similar story a couple years ago about Gilbert Arenas.
Yeah, these guys have become famous, but most of them have been through real shite.

Did Tirico really just say that Clemson just "broke the seal"?

And the six-year grad rate is 60%.
Not many people do it in four years these days at most universities.

Probably better to sell now. Prices usually go down, not up.
They article is from a site that covers Bama.
And to be fair, they've been off a full week longer than LSU.

CHAMPIONSHIP
So...
I'm guessing you haven't been to a game in a while?
I'm guessing you haven't been to a game in a while?
Absolutely. I also think this year's Bama is better than last year's Auburn.
He only gets early carries when the opposing D knows we're going to pound it up the middle.
And now he gets even less as we've become less reliant on the inside zone and more prone to option it early to make the defense run around the field.
All that and Kenny Hilliard.

This. But it's still ballsy of Cody to say that to their newspaper.

I always thought that was the origin. One time it was raining all over BR but for whatever reason the stadium stayed dry. That's the story I heard.

Our team will be better across the board next year. The only concern I have is a championship hangover and breaking in a new QB in the SEC West. We live and die with Mett.

Wow, the coverage on the long TD pass to Blackmon was terrible. I mean, the catch was great but that ball hung in the air for a llloonnggg time. Picked off by anyone that plays in our secondary.

I wish, they'll get picked off one by one. Hopefully not all at once.
Out of the group of established coaches (Cooper, Chavis, Kragthorpe, Stud, Haley) I can only see Stud leaving. Chavis has publicly stated he is not interested in becoming a head coach, and he has a fantastic relationship with Les. Cooper has failed as a head coach and seems content to stay here and get paid a lot of money to coach the secondary. Kragthorpe has publicly stated he wants to coach QBs here for a decade. And Haley was hired here from the NFL, which is the only place I'd be worried about losing him to.
Stud I could see becoming a HC coach somewhere, and bringing the "Miles system" with him. Wilson will be a HC somewhere within three years maximum. Gonzales might not be here next year, and I am clueless about McGaughey.
Still here. I never wanted him gone, and the only time I doubted any of his decisions was when he took his sweet time letting Gary go after last season. That made me sweat.
Even after Ole Miss I didn't want him gone. The game made me mad, but we weren't a national championship team that year. I understood that shite happens and that people make mistakes.
All that being said, he is definitely growing as a coach. He has figured out what kind of program he wants to run and the kind of coaches he needs to hire, and has been incredibly successful in it. Even the players say they've noticed a change in him, and that he seems more like he's "part of the team" and will ride or die with the team this year.
I see Florida 2010 as the game that turned his career around. I think that was when he stopped caring what people said or the advice people gave him, he was going to run the program as he saw fit.

I'm still happy they didn't hire Frank.
I feel like Johnson will have a lot of success in LA (especially NOLA. But the only chance he has of taking someone from us is offering an extremely early scholly to someone near the bottom of our board. They might decide to stick with the coach that took a chance on them early rather than come here when we offer late.
I hope he does good things at Tulane. We could use an excuse to start playing them again.

They were playing way over their heads and we were playing well below what we're capable of.
For those 30 minutes, I'd say they were about as good as Bama.

Our coaching staff in general is amazing.
Credit to Les for putting it all together. He was able to find the perfect mix of young up-and-comers (Frank Wilson, Gonzales, McGaughey) to go with experienced coaches who are at the top of their fields (Cooper, Chavis, Kragthorpe, Stud, Haley).
Add Moffitt to that and we've got a future that may just hold a lot more seasons like this one.

re: A&M looking at 4 Coaches, who would you hire?

Charlie Strong would definitely be my choice. Good defensive mind, great recruiter and great motivator. A lot of energy and would probably fire up the fan base.
Strong and Mike London are probably my two favorite up-and-comers in the country. Hugh Freeze used to be the third.

never liked. neither did TM7.
He didn't like Honey Badger at first either.
Now I think many would argue it's the best nickname in college football in recent memory.
No. Probably never will be. This is LSU, our fans expect perfection and are notoriously fickle.
I don't really like it, but it's the way it is. He'll never be immune from criticism, but the more he wins the harder it is to attack him. People just have to find more insignificant things to bitch about.

Yes.

Make him even that much more legendary when we win it all again next year in even more dominant fashion.
re: PP7 vs TM7 who you got?
Posted by Nearl on 12/5/11 at 7:02 pm to Jaketigger
PP7 may be the most gifted cornerback I've ever seen.
TM7 may be the most intense football player I've ever seen.
Comparison is moot. But if I had to pick one to have on my team, and we were allowed to keep Mo, it would be TM7.
