The longer the announcement takes, the bigger the name.

It would seem to me that if the coaching announcement comes after the last regular season game, or Conference Championship, it will be a coach that is not competing for the playoff. I can't see a scenario where a playoff coach would announce a move prior to said playoff game.
This would also be true for the NFL re playoff games.
If the announcement comes the week of Dec. 7th, it's likely Franklin or Napier, assuming Fickell and Riley continue to win. If it continues to be radio silence after that week, the name will likely be a big one.
It will be important to announce the hire as soon as is humanly possible because of recruiting. So if the name isn't dropped after the regular season, it is because LSU simply can't make the announcement.

I disagree. Announcement will be after the last game regardless. They aren’t going to announce a coach that is still playing.

No coach is going to sign with another school while his current team is about to play in a playoff game with even a chance at a national championship. His school would kick him off campus. The media would eat him alive for causing distraction to his team.

Why can’t people understand this? I don’t think it’s ever happened before and people just expect Lincoln Riley to announce he’s going to LSU and totally ignore his undefeated top-five team

Wouldn't stop the media from leaking a story that a certain coach is going somewhere just before a championship game. frick you Herbstreit!

It's going to happen after the A&M game to make sure the the new coach has a chance to talk to players before ESD.

its real simple, no announcement until after conference championship games unless the candidate is not playing. if no announcement after that...its a candidate in the playoffs.
after A&M game- candidate is not in CCG or playoff hunt
After CCG- candidates were not in playoff hunt
later then that and its candidate that is #1 and is in the playoffs.
personally i think its after the CCG.
and frickign franklin isnt sniffing this job. frick that dude. MR 500 in conference.

Man, stop reading so much into the time frame. The only coaches out there that would be announced before the season concludes are coaches who are currently unemployed. Which if any of them were to be hired, this place would lose it's collective mind!

...or because LSU hasn't identified its next coach because the people they had highest on the list just removed themselves from consideration.
You just never know what's going on and you can't make sweeping statements like you did and always be accurate.

Instead of making an announcement, Jimbo and O should just switch sides at halftime. That would make it almost worth hiring Jimbo.

The only truth to this is that if there was an announcement now it would be a currently unemployed coach.

But Jimbo isn't going to play in the playoff or for a championship this year, so not sure why it matters.
