I am wondering why Jimbo Fisher? I think he will bounce back and go 8-4 or better next year.

I don't think Sarkisian is a great coach, but Texas deserves to be mediocre in perpetuity if they can him after 2 years.

Jeff Scott is definitely gone. USF has been one of the worst teams in college football and significantly worse than were under their last coach who they fired

Surely A&M would only fire Jimbo if they had cause

Jimbo is likely safe for another year unless there's a mass exodus of last year's recruiting class at the end of this season. That happens and they'll find the money to kick him out the door

I have it on good authority that if Jimbo makes a bowl this year the Aggy AD is going to offer him a 15 year $225M guaranteed contract

Jimbo is untouchable because of his contract. The SEC could buy Oklahoma and Texas out of their Big 12 contract for half of what A&M would owe Jimbo. Sarkisian is untouchable because of Arch Manning. They are not going to risk that commitment.

I’m shocked Manning committed to UT. Thought it’d be UGA. Texas is awful - they’re gonna finish the year 6-6.

do you follow recruiting? it's a LOT more than current W-L record. relationships and comfort level are a lot more important than record. look at Michigan and ND for example. UM can't get a premium OL/DL or RB to commit even though they've been dominant in the trenches all year, and lead the country in the running game. ND has been mediocre at best, and has a class that is stacked

besides, even if texas is currently 6-6, manning isn't a direct part of that. he's gonna join next year

If TAMU fires Jimbo and pays his buyout, the government is going to get involved.

I agree. At a minimum, he gets two more years, I think. I keep hearing his is going to "retool" the offensive philosophy but I see no way they can really pressure him to do so.

I would not put money on that for one reason, the huge buyout. Otherwise he would be gone.

If he gets fired, it will be for cause.

If I’m USF I’m taking a flyer on Deion. Florida guy and it’s a stepping stone for him to get out of Jackson. Would be a good test for him. Not like USF can get any worse over the past few years.

So they can’t recruit OL/DL, but “they’ve been dominant in the trenches” with kids they recruited?

Makes sense
