Kelly and saban both left schools, built staffs. The staff Nick had failed. Kellys for now is doing good.
Nick hired Jimbo, took his advice with the offense staff hires. The defense side, Nick had what he wanted. When Nick lost his OL coach, Tricket , Jimbo got the coach he wanted. Nick lost a DC, hired one, lost him within weeks. Tried to hire a friend of mine, that failed. He then elevated Muschamp.

Most coaches have a list of names if a coach is lost. Some of my friends in the profession will let me know who’s being hired, who’s moving on. The stories of hire and fire, enjoyable.

Kelly had $8.2M to work with when he came in, OL Coach was under a 3 year contract, $820K last year and $850K this year. I think I’m close on the numbers. What Kelly walked into as for AD and other support, it’s better than what Elko is getting at aTm, that’s my opinion. Elko has a way better roster, if he can keep it together.

I have a number of friends that played, coached and graduated from aTm, they too are watching this one unfold.

No, the stupid money left with Jimbo. Some of the guys a coach will bring in, TE and RB’s most times, are the lower paid guys. They may get more money, RC, RGC, etc.

Bama went from $8.3 in '22 to $9.1 this year. Georgia is at $9.2. Auburn is under $8.5. I can't find the number on Texas, but I read that a few of their coaches got extensions and raises where 7 of the 10 are making a million or more this season. So they may be the only team in the SEC at or more than $11MM.

$11MM is very good for an assistant pool.

So according to the logic of the secrant and many of the folks on the coaching change board we can conclude that atm was turned down by at least 5-6 coaches based on the names we heard tied to the job before settling for Elko and Elko must be a terrible person for whom nobody wants to work since his staff is largely refusing to join him.

That’s how it works right ? A guy gets rumored to be connected to your school but isn’t hired must mean he turned you down.

Staff doesn’t follow must mean your coach sucks and is a terrible person lol

I wasn’t trolling. I am trying to understand your point. Until this year, the coaching search board didn’t have the free for all shite talking that the SECRant exudes. I guess this year, it’s allowed because LSU isn’t searching for a head coach.

I guess you didn’t see it as trolling bc atm wasn’t involved in a coaching search but it certainly happened a couple years ago too.

There was definitely lots of shite talking…people saying we got turned down by Riley, etc, and then bashing Kelly bc some of his staff didn’t join him despite ND promoting from within and by doing so it made perfect sense for those coaches to stay put.

Funny thing is Woodward and people close to him said repeatedly Riley wasn’t a candidate but hey the rant said he turned us down bc his agent floated his name. If he was mentioned as a candidate by the media then by God he was and since we didn’t hire him then that meant he turned us down. Yet somehow we pulled a guy nobody thought we could and a guy who is seen as a top coach in the country. Yes we really settled there huh?

As far anyone being pissy, no we are quite content with pulling a top 5-10 coach. He’s got a good shot to win 10 games each of his first 2 seasons. I think he’s going to be just fine.

It looks like you’re just pissy with how your school’s search went and how his staff hires are going.

The “shite talking” is certainly not unique to this year on this board.
