just about to post this, which is why I was good with moving on from him, I was just hoping, naively I suppose, that's we 'd bring in a better hire. O's IHC record is 11-4, That doesn't smell like an SEC Title type of record to me.

Miles did that at first. And then was fired for not meeting that standard.

And Baylor hires Temple's coach Matt Rhule, 28-23 overall record and Oregon hires USF's coach Willie Taggart, 40-45 overall record.

Taggart at WKU
2-10
7-5
7-5

Taggart at USF
2-10
4-8
8-5
10-2

Matt Rhule at Temple
2-10
6-6
10-4
10-3

Both took over programs with losing records the season before their arrival. Notice a pattern after they got in place?

Now, let's look at another pattern.

3-9
4-8
3-8

Something seems to be different.......

Yup.

Taggert and Rhule weren't Tier 1 coaches, and maybe not even Tier 2.

However, I would take both over O if it came down to it. I mean, why not Taggert at $3.5 million/year? There's a higher upside there.

Any average football fan could see the difference was night and day in the way that the football team responded to Coach O. Night and day!

thats called energy and motivation.. it happens the majority of the time when you have an interim head coach.. most people want the change and feel better the next day naturally.. Its always better to get out and get some strange arse sometimes..

I seriously doubt that.

Western Kentucky 3 years before Taggart

7-5
2-10
0-12

Taggart

2-10
7-5
7-5 (didn't even coach the bowl game because he was picked up by USF so fast).

USF 3 years before Taggart

8-5
5-7
3-9

USF with Taggart

2-10
4-8
8-5
10-2

If LSU is looking for a new guy in 3 years and Taggart has rebuilt Oregon as he has done at rebuilding his last 2 spots, he should definitely be one of the guys at the top of the list.
