So which is it?

Not going to consider the option that it’s December, teams now have a year’s worth of film on him and are better prepared for what he does well and he like many others are banged up but based on what the staff sees in practice every day he’s still the guy that gives the team the best chance to win?

Gotta be a significant injury or an idiot staff……

Nothing described by the "media" would justify the use of deadly force.

The other guy covered it nicely. If anyone, LE or not, is standing in front of your vehicle and you floor it, that’s an immediate justification for the use of deadly force in even the most liberal state.

He could have also been charged with a felony, so yes he got off easy by being charged with misdemeanors. Having no priors may have played into the prosecutor’s decision, and that’s appropriate but the potential for much more severe charges was on the table. As far as his team punishment goes, he’d be welcome back when he took care of the case, if he’s done that then I have no issue with him being reinstated.
quote:

I get that kids needs to be punished for stupid mistakes, but does anyone else feel like this suspension has been quite lengthy based on the charges?

No, not even a little bit. He got off easy. If the incident went down as described in the media, he could’ve well been shot..

You would think she would have spent 10 bucks of that 50,000 raise for birth control pills. Wait, she's blonde. Never mind.

Why would she do that when she can parlay the baby into a 5,000,000 or more raise?

It’s also more than possible that, being young and dumb, she fell for him and thought he loved her too. Without realizing that there’d be another young PAWG coming along to take her place one day she may well have wanted to have his baby.
quote:

Since all arrests are public record, why can't we learn details of the arrest? I have a feeling if he were just some random guy, there wouldn't be this secrecy.

This one is easy.

When the story broke last night, he hadn't been arrested. He was picked up by the Saline PD for an incident that happened in another jurisdiction. Most likely they put him in their holding cell, but he wouldn't be booked into their jail. At some point, the agency where the incident happened (Pittsville Township) picked him up, placed him under arrest, and transported him to their jail for booking. That sort of thing happens all the time.

The jail roster, which he is on right now shows him book in at 8:30 last night.

False. He was fired for charging the strip club to his expense account after already being warned not to do it again.

This is wrong too.

What did him in was that he left his credit card in the room with his entertainment from the previous evening, who proceeded to order up a massive amount of room service with it.

SI story from back in the day

Let's be honest, if a coach is winning NCs shite will get covered up and people will get paid off. If you're not winning it gives folks the perfect out with cause, bottom line: Just Win Baby!

Just a simple dalliance? Maybe.

A long term affair involving an employee that possibly got a promotion in exchange for ending a pregnancy and is now pregnant again?

No. Even if it doesn't go completely off the rails like happened here that coach and school is cooked no matter the success level. The BEST he's getting out of it is being allowed to resign in lieu of termination. There's way too much on the line for the university.

The money they saved by firing him for cause is going to be needed to fund her settlement check because it's going to be massive.

Alabama fired one of its winningest coaches in their basketball history for the same thing, and it was consensual.

I've not seen one bit of documentation that she consented to the pimp hand.

Also, if you're the supervisor and you screw the help when it invariably goes bad you're getting fired. It's just that simple.
Gruden - replace an HR train wreck with another HR train wreck who last coached at the college level in 1991 and hasn't coached at all since 2021.

Saban (he just said you have to make him say no, not that this is realistic) - putting aside the whole "ain't happening" thing, sure, go ahead and hire the guy who turns 75 next year and whose age was being used against him in recruiting 5-6 years ago.

Lanning - Ok, but he's already making $11 mil a year in the same conference, has a first round playoff bye, and his seat is igloo cool. Why would he leave that for a train wreck?

Jeff Monkin - reasonable but risky candidate. FCS and service academy experience as a head coach.

Clark Lea - just signed an extension and is 9-27 without Diego Pavia and Jerry Kill. He might could bring Kill, but Pavia's used up the last of his lifelines.

Kenny Dillingham - maybe, but a very small body of work.

Deion - Please, oh please make it happen. I really don't like Michigan.

Short version - Portney should stick to cyberstalking Danica Patrick. He's better at that than developing a resonable list of Michigan coaching candidates.

Venabels exploited it like so many other teams.

Bama had 406 yards of total offense, 23 first downs, and had the ball for 34 1/2 minutes.

I hope like hell he exploits it to the same level again. If he does and Bama can simply not drop a punt or fumble Oklahoma will get blown the frick out.

Y’all need to understand that DeBoer’s name is going to be attached to almost every opening.

It’s like fans forgot the “Saban to xxxxxxx” that happened every year.

Late season slide aside, Bama just finished the top seed in the SEC and is in the playoffs. He’s going to be on everyone’s wish list. The fact that fans are restless because it wasn’t a 2012 Saban masterpiece makes it even easier to put a believable story out there.

This is already a train wreck. If the rumors of everyone knowing but doing nothing and the AD being in trouble are true along with coming on the heels of the cheating scandal it’s an East Palestine level train wreck.

It’s not going to be an attractive job for anyone already in a good spot and despite what you see here or on Finebaum, DeBoer is in a very good spot.

They’re in a post Mike Price situation (without the scholarship loss). It’s going to take someone dedicated to the program like Bama had with Shula or a unique opportunity and there’s one out there.

Brian Kelly.

He won’t be the fish out of water he was at LSU, he’ll be more successful because of the area and schedule, and he can probably be had relatively cheaply.
quote:

a felony conviction wouldn't matter one bit.

Unlike other states or at the federal level, convicted felons are ineligible to hold elected office in the state of Alabama. If you are in office and get convicted, you are immediately removed the second of the jury foreman says guilty. If you have a prior conviction, you can’t run.
He’s far from the only one, but he’s become spectacular at it in a very short period of time.
quote:

He'll never even be the R nominee.

He doesn’t have 2 brain cells to rub together, but he’s such an iron clad lock no serious R candidate is bothering to run against him. In the general, the Ds have trotted out Doug Jones, who lost to Tubbs by > 20 points in the 2020 senate race. Even the few possible candidates they might otherwise field decided to sit it out.

The only way Tubbs isn’t the next Governor is if he somehow catches a felony conviction between now and next November or he dies or is otherwise medically incapacitated.

The silver lining is that at least he’s out of the Senate and Gov is term limited. As a senator, he’d have stayed in office forever embarrassing the state and raking in millions with his insider trading deals the whole time.

And against OU we had Cuevas.

Huge missing part right now.
quote:

I don’t know what’s happened

Opponents got film on Ty, figured out how to defend him, and the staff, him, or some combination of the two haven’t been able to successfully adjust.

Injuries haven’t helped either.
quote:

I'm interested to see if they can maintain this level without Pavia.

If they keep Jerry Kill on staff they’ll continue to be very successful. He’s the wizard behind the curtain.

Impressive to get a train/station in there.

The location OP mentioned is just a few miles down the road from Birmingham. It’s a very cool place if you like trains. They have several miles of track and do events like Santa, Easter Bunny, and Halloween pumpkin patch rides for kids every year. My daughter loved riding the train there when she was little.

I just don't get it.

It’s the next step to the end of college football for all but a few.

NIL, unrestricted transfers, and now a 105 scholarship roster mean the elite talent will concentrate at power programs.

The 12 team playoff will expand to at least 16, making it playoffs or bust for that same group. Bowls full of G5 teams won’t draw TV audiences or crowds so they’ll go away.

Money will dry up for all but those handful of programs so they’ll drop back to D3 or just drop football entirely. Initially the elites will say that’s fine, but over time it will impact them too. Once teams start being eliminated from the playoffs, it’ll be like an NFL or MLB stadium when the team is bad and they won’t be able to afford it either.

Nah not a banner, but you can print cups and T-shirts.

Agree with this. It’s the modern version of making a NY6 bowl.

Your hatred of Auburn is legendary, but this is beyond the line. The Golesh family fled Soviet Russia/Communism. You're pathetic, even for a bammer.

Lighten up Francis.

The Auburn board has it’s own thread dedicated to Soviet/Russian material. Some of the military parade ones are pretty good.
