And Baylor hires Temple's coach Matt Rhule, 28-23 overall record and Oregon hires USF's coach Willie Taggart, 40-45 overall record.

Seems to me other than Texas hiring Herman, pretty much everyone else is just reaching or settling and I still think all and all we did pretty good keeping Coach O. If you look at the complete picture. We kept Aranda(which is huge) and we have seemed to keep our recruiting class in tack so far. Let's see what happens with the OC.

So with all that being said how would the majority have felt if we would have hired either of those coaches as head coach? To be honest I know very little about both.

Matt Rhule is a very very good coach. His overall record is misleading considering how bad Temple was and how difficult that job is.

His overall record is still better than O's....

Taggart just had a 10 win season. O had a 10 win head coaching career.

Both of those guys would of been good here, its obvious you do not watch college football outside of LSU and the sec, its okay to be open minded

Herman has been a head coach for two years and finished 6th in his conference and 4th in his division this year. He had the most talented team in his conference. Why would the Texas hire be considered better than the other two?

truth is, it was a rough year for hiring coaches. People need to accept that and that LSU was never going to hire someone as green as Taggart or Fleck. They need to learn how to run a major football program before taking a job like LSU.

baylor isn't settling one bit and actually made a very good hire considering their circumstances.

I agree with this. But Baylor's "home run" isn't = to LSU home run.

Taggart rebuilt two programs. Matt Rhule just had back to back 10-win seasons and a conference championship.

Is this a serious topic?

I could agree with this...if LSU had hired someone who had shown he'd learned how to do so.

i love how people just look at the overall record and assume coaches are shite because of it.

look at the progressions of each.

Rhule
2-10
6-6
10-4
10-3

Taggart
2-10
4-8
8-5
10-2

Yeah, Ole Miss was winning NC's every couple of years 10 years ago in the SEC. Coach O screwed the pooch when he took over that perennial top three program in the country.
