I'm riding with whomever Woodward hires. He knows more than me. I wasn't initially thrilled with Johnson, but I like him now. I trust Scott.

1.) Whomever we hire will be an X's and O's upgrade over what we have in 2021.
2.) Whomever we hire will probably be a better hirer of asst coaches/ coordinators than what we currently have in 2021.
3.) Regardless of who we hire, there will be many that will be unhappy.
Again, we are upgrading. Period. And because of 2019, we are in position to hire an outstanding coach.

Doesn't matter who is hired, they will be hated day one. It's the worst part of Louisiana people. Hate any and everything, but never change it.

I actually wouldn't say that Kelly is a dead letter.
Notre Dame has a weird dynamic with coaches. Most of these guys feel its a duty, part of their relationship with God. They end up either fired, or stay out of coaching for several years if they leave.
Weis - fried, and wasn't a HC again for 2 years.
Willingham - fired.
Davie - fired, and wasn't a HC again for 10 years
Holtz - retired, and wasn't a HC again for 2 years.
Faust - forced out.
Devine - retired, and was never a HC again.
Parseghian - retired, and was never a HC again.

Franklin isn't established. The only thing he's established is he has a goose egg (0) against ranked opponents on the road. And that's not because he doesn't have the players or resources at Penn St.
Stoops hasn't coached for 5 yrs (not counting XFL)
Jimbo has the resources and recruiting at FSU and A/M he's still putting up Miles numbers.
Kelly is a great coach - he could use our recruiting the most to see what he can do.
Kelly and Stoops are 62 we are wanting someone that can be here for 10 yrs.

I think the issue is, there is Saban and everyone else.
So the question for everyone else is why aren’t you saban?
If you’re at ULL or Iowa State or etc… the answer can be: well Saban couldn’t win all those championships at ULL. I just Need a chance at the right school.
When you’re coaching ND, Florida Texas A&M etc… you can’t really point the finger at your school anymore.

But does that mean LSU will have success?
The last HC LSU fans were generally excited about AT THE TIME HE WAS HIRED was Curly Hallman. We all know how that turned out.
I remember talking with a friend's dad who was a big TAF guy back then and he said most of the boosters were furious about the Hallman hire. They knew all about his personal issues and could see his failure a mile away.
Dean calmed them down with his Gil Brandt recommendation, but a bunch of them never forgave him and wouldn't turn loose big money again until Emmert came along.
And Hallman was nothing resume-wise like the big name coaches we're talking about. Hallman was essentially Billy Napier, if Billy Napier's success had been based on a superstar QB making plays and winning games with raw talent.

Most oppose Tucker and their is nothing established about him.

Part of this issue, limited to message boards especially this one, is the idea of "established".
By many definitions Saban at MSU wasn't "established".
By some, much less, definitions not being Saban today isn't "established".
What does a HC have to establish, prove, or have done, to be "established"?
By my definition there's a butt load, over 50 "established" coaches out there. So it isn't even a factor to me.
- have they established they can run a program, including hiring assistants that elevate them, the players, and the program SIMULTANEOUSLY.
- have they established that given the recruit pool available, against whatever competition you have, and the resources provided they will maximize their recruiting. I'll use Saban at MSU here again: his classes paled in comparison to tOSU, Mich, and PSU. But he stole recruits from them periodically. Enough to frustrate them and add to his team enough to scare them on the field.
- have they established that they will stay hungry? Riley is one of those, for example. Urban is not, for example. Some "wear out their welcome", some get lazy/complacent, some will only try to double down where it works and go full ostrich where it doesn't (Petrino for example, he got where he would only talk to QBs and WRs recruits and people wondered why they couldn't recruit a DB to save their life).

you see it with Jimbo, you see it with Brian Kelly's name being thrown out there, you see it with James Franklin, Bob Stoops, etc. I've even seen people crapping on Dabo Swinney, who next to Saban has been the most successful coach in all of college football the last decade.
Even Mike Tomlin's name brought people bitching.
Everyone you mentioned above is an unrealistic pipe dream.

I had my own favorite, Lane Kiffen, but I think he threw himself out of contention. I liked Coach O but he lost himself somewhere after 2019 and did himself in... I just want Scott to look closely at all the candidates and choose whose best for LSU. And 99% of us know very little about each individual. We give our opinions on this board, which is fun. But I'll support whoever is chosen.

Which is (1) beside the point, as the OP was about the bitching and not whether they're gettable; and (2) you must not be familiar with Scott Woodward's history of coaching hires. Unrealistic pipe dreams are who he gets.

DUDE!!! None of the people you named are coming to LSU.
Not a single name you posted will ever coach in BR.
That's just the cold hard facts.

I just don't understand why LSU fans want to roll the dice on somebody who isn't proven at this point. That approach makes perfect sense for TCU. They need a big dick hire after everything that's going on the last three coaches overall. And don't tell me they all won a national championship. Because Saban has won like six in the last 10 years?
