Imagination is far more appealing than recall.

An established coach doesn't leave much to the imagination. We've seen a large sample size of them, so that's what they are to us. Fans see established coaches as limiting because what are the odds we're going to see better than what we've already seen?

Younger coaches have their careers ahead of them, so we project on to them what we want them to be. With a younger coach people think there's always the chance that they could turn out to be the next Saban.

Established coaches *can't* be the next Saban, so if you're looking for that, then what's the point in going "established?" It's not my line of thinking but I think this is what drives people to crap on some of the suggested hires.

I prefer a younger wunderkind hire but wouldn't at all be opposed to someone like Jimbo.

I had my own favorite, Lane Kiffen, but I think he threw himself out of contention.

I don't think so. Scott isn't nearly as dumb as most LSU fans. Kiffin was swinging for the fences Saturday against Auburn because he knew that if he lost the game Ole Miss would no longer be in contention to win the SEC West. Plus Ole Miss's best receivers were all hurt and out for the game, his QB had two sprung ankles, and his best defensive player was also hurt.

I found his strategy to be refreshing after sitting through the 2013 game against Alabama.

Anyway, Kiffin is by far the best qualified out of all the other wannabes.

I mean some people claim Lincoln Riley will actually leave OU for LSU, but only the most delusional of the delusional people are dumb enough to believe that garbage.

Meanwhile, with respect to all the other coaching candidates, there are far more questions than answers. As hiring anyone of them would be rolling the dice and if they turn out to be another Tom Herman, then Scott could find himself having to find a new job. As no one is going to trust him to make another hire.
