because the administration has already shown they are susceptible to public opinion.
The media, in lobbying for O, have normalized him in a way he shouldn't have been. He's now a "thinkable" candidate to the average fan. This is very bad for the LSU football program.

Fear of losing and being looked down upon by other fans.

I get it and I am sick of seeing anyone in the media local or national try to blow smoke up my arse during this coaching search but the one thing I am more sick of is the Coach O bashing and hatred out of people on this board that make it sound like O would be a step down from Miles. I'm pretty tired of it both ways. All I know is I have wanted change since Miles ruined the best team LSU has ever assembled so I will be happy with whomever we get as coach.

There are very rational reasons to think that Orgeron would be much less successful than Miles was - in the last years of his tenure at LSU, not the good first six or seven years.

There are literally dozens of coaches better than Miles. O being better than Miles is not in itself a unique qualification.

I dont think it helps that this politicking is exactly what kept Les Miles around another year and exactly why we're not in the running for the playoffs this year. That could have a lot to do with the frustration with this crap.

It's so unfortunate that O has the majority of the media behind him to advance his propaganda machine. No doubt this is why he hired Ponamsky, to lead the pro-O campaign. Here's hoping Alleva looks past the spin, and makes the right hire in Jimbo.

This. The ramifications of the politicking and the positivity of the press can bend this in a way that hurts LSU in the long run.

O would be a step down from Miles. That's not bashing O.

A program of LSU's caliber should not "settle" for Coach O. He is a great guy, a heck of a recruiter, but would be a disaster as head coach.

I'm at a loss now. We immediately improved our football team by replacing Miles with O.

And when O is replaced, it will be with an improvement to him. O is not at the top of my list, but eventually there is a spot at which he is the top. We haven't even begun offering coaches, so we haven't even been turned down yet. That will happen, it happens to everyone. And when it does and if we get down to where O is at the top of the list, then I will support him and be happy we have improved from Les Miles. But some of you posters hate O so much that you'd rather anyone but him and that just makes you sound ignorant.
