If you've ever listened to Saban speak on X's and O's, he's probably the smartest X's and O's coach--on either side of the ball--to ever coach.

There's a reason he can lose coordinators every year and not miss a beat.

The Steelers have had exactly 3 head coaches since 1969. Leaving that sort of stable situation for the crucible of life at either LSU or USC is riskier than going bareback in Thailand.

Just turned 50 years old and one of the top coaches at all levels.
Throw the bank at him.

Tomlin is pretty average when it comes to game planning and game day.

Well this isn’t true

Anyways, Mike frickin Tomlin isn’t leaving the NFL for LSU. This is prime coaching changes board stuff, though.

Unless Tomlin comes out saying he is interested this seems just as unlikely as those Tennessee fans who thought Gruden might coach there.

Would be a homerun hire and a woke minority hire all in one! Everyone would be happy!

The handful of times Gameday has had him on in the AM and let him go on coverage segments and the like its PAINFULLY obvious how much smarter he is than anyone else they have the week before or the week after. And he's been the only one Peyton has treated like an equal on Monday night.

All that aside, Tomlin is basically Pete Carroll post Jets only with way more success at the NFL level. LSU gets him and they put the SEC and the country on notice overnight.
