Napier might be great, but I thought UF's program was too elite to take that kind of risk.

Urban Meyer came from Bowling Green and Utah. Hiring any coach not named Saban is a risk.

With a solid coach, we would be playoff contender within 3 years

What the hell has happened to you? This is just sad.

First of all, if LSU offered him he would take it over the UF job every day and twice on Sundays.

Furthermore, why are you so invested in a guy who, while he may turn out to be good, is nothing close to a sure thing? Shouldn’t you set your sights a little higher?

It may very well be a better job than Florida, but if it was top two, Ed Orgeron wouldn’t have been hired last time.

Do you really believe lsu can't hire billy napier?

He went on local radio a few times to say he wanted the job.

I agree, but even in Urban's case, he went to Gainesville coming off an undefeated season and Fiesta Bowl win, with a QB who was the #1 pick in the draft.

Napier, on the other hand, has won the Sun Belt West a bunch of times.

Apparently you aren't familiar with Joe Alleva.

He even admitted he wanted Orgeron the whole time, and didn't look anywhere else after Herman said he wanted to talk to Texas.

Maybe he meant top two in open HC positions. Not a knock to lsu but there are a handful of better jobs. I believe lsu is a top 10 job though.

No, if he goes to Florida, it’s because LSU did not offer him.

I don't know if you know this or not the 2003 and 04 Utah teams were in the Mountain west conference. Not exactly a football powerhouse. LINK

Um yeah, I'm very aware.

I'm not sure what your point is. If Napier had been blowing out all his opponents, going undefeated, and winning a NY6 game at ULL, the conversation might be a little different.

10-1 record in his last 2 seasons. I'd say that's pretty good.
I don't even know if he's going to be UF's coach or not. I'd say he's earned the opportunity at a big time program. Whether it's LSU, UF or wherever.

Have you seen the best coaches beating down the door anywhere else?

I get the impression from listening to him that he respects LSU. He's always been honest and fair towards us.
