I never said Napier wasn't a good coach. All I said was that he has won his division a bunch of times, which is much different than what Urban had accomplished.

The track record of recent hot names out of the Sun Belt has been a mixed bag at best. Neal Brown, Satterfield, and Drinkwitz all won the Sun Belt title, and none of them ended up at jobs as big as LSU or Florida.

I know some will disagree, but if I'm the AD at either one of our schools, I'd be casting my line for a head coach in other waters before the Sun Belt.

I thought UF's program was too elite to take that kind of risk. Mullen, despite how it turned out, was a logical and scary hire at the time. Napier is a game of Russian Roulette.

What you are missing is the interview process. Sure, if we are making the hire based only on what we fans know, then Napier is a similar risk as Mullen was. But if Woodward is a good recruiter he will carefully interview the prospects and pick the man who has greatness in his veins. That’s what Mark Emmertt did with Saban. Hopefully Woodward has that capacity.

Billy Napier will not take the job at Florida until he knows he is out of contention at LSU. Period. So let’s not start thinking he thinks it’s a better job.

It may very well be a better job than Florida, but if it was top two, Ed Orgeron wouldn’t have been hired last time.

It doesn’t matter how great your job is when you have a cowardly idiot running the search. In case you haven’t heard, he isn’t around anymore.
