Maybe wrong thread, but does Coach K coach a minor bowl game or focus on recruiting?

He did coach the bowl when he was incoming Cincy coach but I don’t think that’s likely to happen here, though if I were him I’d want to be on the practice field with my guys. But there’s a lot of work to do in terms of how the program operates and of course recruiting.

Focus on recruiting. Pace the sidelines during the game and let the staff do their thing.

Why shouldn’t he coach the bowl game if he isn’t coaching Notre Dames?

It’s just a PR risk. Meaningless game, a team that he had no part in assembling/developing, you don’t risk derailing any positive momentum from the hire moving into the off-season by laying an egg in a meaningless game that he had no part in putting together the team playing in said game.

I could be wrong, but I strongly doubt he’ll coach the bowl game. Im sure they’ll ask him about it tomorrow obviously.

He’s getting paid. The early signing period quickly thrusts him into the role. He has completely separated himself from his other team, one that could still back door into the playoff.

Idk. I don’t think it’s that taboo

Well Eddy already decided to announce Brad Davis as interim for the bowl game, don't think Kelly will be coaching.

They will keep him behind a rope in a corner on the sideline. When Brad Davis is getting overwhelmed he can run over and tag him in and toss him the headset.

It’s a rush, have Woodward find a bowl rent-a-win and start putting in your system with the 15 extra practices

I can’t remember ever hearing about a coach making his debut with a team in a bowl game, other than coordinators who got promoted. I imagine Kelly will be at all the practices and the game to evaluate players, coaches and staff, but that’s it.

Believe it or not, Kelly did. He left CMU and coached Cincinnati in the International Bowl. They won 27-24.
