Fisher was a cancer - should read some of the articles. He had to go

Are y’all talking yourselves into the DL coach just because he’s a good recruiter?

Where have I heard this one?

Maybe. I wanted Jess Fisch but nobody is going to come with Bjork knee capped on his hire. It will have to be internal, or Elko (basically internal)

Good Lord. Letting a bunch of entitled, spoiled brat 18-23 year old football players dictate who is hired as head coach. Clown show

You cannot hire a coach that hasn’t even been a coordinator. Not for a job like A&M.

You also cannot hire from the outside and demand this new coach retain Elijah, who the players have lobbied for the job. It just doesn’t work like that.

Sounds like a great guy to have as your defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator

I mean it seems like that means it will be Elko. Who is the one I thought they would go after all along.

So neither?

The guy clearly doesn't have a pulse on the search

He wont stay if they pick another head coach. Ironically he may end up at LSU.

At this point I dont think A&M has a choice but to promote him.

He is absolutely in play as the DC if Elko comes on, who he worked with for four years. Your assertion is ridiculous

You can do it if it's someone Elijah worked for already and someone many of the players have played for previously

To be fair to Billy he was all over Stoops before anyone else. Posted at like 10pm last night he was a legit candidate and our fans kind of laughed it off

New coaches identifying and retaining assistants that are key to the program on both a recruiting and chemistry front happens pretty regularly. I am going to assume that what A&M fans say about him loving the program is true and that he would not be so bitter at that prospect with only a resume that peaks at position coach. Give him a raise and full control of the defense and he isn't passing on that vs. just being a DL coach elsewhere (his realistic best case)

He's not done anything worthy of this kind of power. It's great he's a good recruiter and his players like him, but that describes quite a large number of position coaches who similarly have no business being a Power 5 head coach

I would sign up for Elko, with Elijah Robinson on the staff as well. But there is nothing to make me think that Elko is actually in play right now.

He's been in play the entire time, not sure why that would end now just because it seemed like the search was over. It's not like he took another job.

The players dictating who the head coach is, would be a bad sign for college football. Is this what NIL means?

The players basically get to pick who the head coaches are in the NBA.

But every time I heard Elko‘s name, the story was that he prefers to stay at Duke.

Elko was the first choice all along.

I wonder if we are even going to interview Fisch. Doesn’t sound like it
