Yeah, I’m not gonna hold my breath with that source

Elko was the first choice all along.
I mean clearly not based on the last 8 hours or so

The guy clearly doesn't have a pulse on the search

Are y’all talking yourselves into the DL coach just because he’s a good recruiter?
Where have I heard this one?
I know it’s not really about LSU, but it sure is suspect that they threw the bank at Fisher after LSU was debating whether to fire Miles and try to poach Fisher, and now they’re technically taking step 1 to replicate the 2019 LSU run.

Yeah, at least he was the consensus on this board.

At this point I dont think A&M has a choice but to promote him.
You can't be serious right?

Elko would be cheaper and almost certainly more attainable considering the resume and history. It would be difficult to believe they got told no by Elko then moved to Stoops.

The problem with promoting ER is where does his staff come from? Are we just expecting him to keep Jimbos guys?
Hiring coordinators is all about relationships and knowing people. Where is he going to find guys he trust to to be the integral leaders of his team? Do we expect him to keep Petrino and Durkin while the constant clamor has been to move the concepts on both sides of the ball into the 21st century.
I like the guy, but there is a huge difference between being a first time HC (especially without being a stand alone coordinator first) at a small time school in a lower level conference and dealing with the expectations of A&M in the SEC.

In all seriousness, why is Lane not a legit candidate? He's won 10 games for the second time at ole miss so he already has more skins on the all then both Elko and Fisch. Am I out of the loop and he already turned it down early on?

This will be LSU 2.0 where they hire Elijah Robinson in the end.
They always obsess with being like us anyway. Why not do the exact same thing LSU did in regards to one of their coaching searches?

There was a lot of chatter about Elko before there was chatter about Stoops

I can get that the players love Robinson. So hire who you want AND figure out a way to keep him on the staff.

My choice would be Fisch, and Elijah remain on staff. However, it isn’t my choice

If it's the right guy this shouldn't matter with how much money A&M has, and if it were me it's a no brainer.

My guess is it will be Elko, with Robinson as the DC. Should be Fisch but I think that is dead with Bjork’s actions over last 24 hours

If so Texas AM is taking the LSU approach when it comes to caving to the players.
Orgeron had two full seasons as an SEC head coach, an 8 game audition as interim coach, and had been very successful as the interim coach at USC a few years prior. I also don't recall any type of player input, much less a caving, at the time of the Orgeron hire. The two are nothing alike other than they both coached the D-line at some point in their career.
That said, A&M would agree to move the campus to New Jersey in order to have the success with Robinson we had with Orgeron.

I hope we don't get to Robinson but the comparisons to Orgeron are a little silly if you've heard him talk
