Thank goodness. Stoops would have made Aggie into a powerhouse. I knew I could depend on them to screw themselves over.
Players at Arkansas went nuts when told Pittman was returning.
They did so because they now have another year to get paid fat without him holding them accountable for shite. They will frick up and he will pat them on the backside and tell them "It's ok. At least you tried".
Enjoy your continued suckage aggies

I just can’t see Texas AM firing Jimbo only to hire someone who has only ever been a DL coach
It sure worked out for LSU
Granted O wasn’t your ordinary DL coach. He had a ton of experience and it made sense. Never really heard of Elijah Robinson

He was fine when he inherited a put together roster and was able to motivate them with good coordinators. As soon as the coordinators left and he was responsible for evals, development, etc the wheels fell off. That’s why Kelly inherited such a terrible roster.
Nailed it!

Elko told his team he’s staying in Durham

Sure, you can point to Clemson and say Dabo was never more than a position coach, but he’s the exception to the rule.
Dabo also ws given time to learn on the job. I doubt A&M fans are willing to do that.

Orgeron had been a HC at Ole Miss….but there have been several HCs at Ole Miss that were not great there but good at other schools.
There is also a BIG difference in recruiting players as a Dline coach and recruiting them as the HC. He has to be able to sell a vision and a plan…..that will come from someone who has NO experience being the man in charge.
This is like Auburn fans wanting Caddy and while he is beloved and a great coach he was not ready to run a program like Auburn.

This goes right back to the basic problem of with this all going on out in public view A&M has virtually no real choices.
I have never been on the fire the AD train regarding Jimbo because I always felt that the deal was at best case done fist and glove with the rest of the power players at A&M. But now, the ineptitude of this search (including canning Jimbo with no obvious replacement lined up) makes me think someone has to be the fall guy, purely from a national perception standpoint.
How can this moving forward be anything but a shitshow?
Multiple public denials, the insinuation that the job is expected to include Robinson (at a minimum) on staff, the juxtaposition of talk about limitless resources but trying to cost cut by retaining some of the current staff and the AD doing pullbacks in spending that was common under Jimbo, a late night public "Schiano" scuttling of a hire by the fanbase, and now the players trying to dictate the hire and rumors that the boosters are at war with each other and the university over this.
People say Texas has too much meddling going on, but my lord A&M is giving them a run for their money.

Jimbo had to go. Period. There were issues arising beyond shitty win/loss records.
Honestly, it would have been better to give Jimbo one more year while working the back channels until aTm hit a home run hire. Now it’s looking like a meh hire that will be locked in for 3-5 years.

Listened to ERob pressers, and he is impressive. I think he could just be a great coach if given the right resources. And he loves A&M
Again, sounds exactly like Ole Miss fans when they hired Luke. I mean… uncanny.
Leave off the “and he loves A&M” and you sound just like MSU fans when we hired Moorhead.

I love it when people say shite like this.
Ed O “loved LSU”. He was only too happy to take his $17mm and tip the frick out the door after running the program into the ground.
These guys are all mercenaries. Hired guns. Whores, if you will. They “love” whoever is signing that next paycheck.

Robinson can recruit better than most HC’s. Give him some great coordinators and see what he can do

Having the AD come out and say the expectations are not 8-4 may scare off a coach. 100 years of football history shows it is an 8-4 job, probably worse with OU/UT coming in. Why would someone leave where they have comfort to go somewhere where expectations do not meet reality?
It’s be like hiring a race car driver to drive a Ford Probe and asking him to win formula 1 races or he will be fired. Why?

Eerily familiar.
This strategy doesn’t work long term in the sec…because eventually the elite coordinators leave.

So with Stoops saying he is staying put, and Elko is staying put, what I hear is nobody wants the aggy job so Robinson is their guy.

The media will get a hard on for A&M if they hire Robinson.

That always works well.
1987 lsu players wanted Mike Archer to replace the retiring Bill Arnsparger. We didn’t give a second interview to an innovative up and comer who said “lsu is a sleeping giant”.
Archer gets shite canned and Arnsparger (the new Florida AD) hires said up and comer at Florida in 1990.
You do the math.
