Sexton is a master at playing schools like stradivarios in order to gain every edge in contract negotiations. Freeman knew he wanted to stay up north where he could be near his family and continue to coach against a patsy schedule, but he acted like he was about to sign with LSU to get the maximum amount from ND.

Coach O is pretty smart and lots of you are blind to it because of your hatred for him. Going after Freeman publicly like he did and losing out gives him carte blanche to go after other any DC he'd like.
There are tons of good DC's out there who would flourish with LSU's talent.

Do you even know an Aggie? They were and still are extremely pleased about it. He has beaten LSU (Orgeron) twice where it was 8 or 9 straight losses and did well enough to be a 1 loss team this season plus his players don’t “opt out” or skip bowl games.
They collect some 200MM a year and can afford way more than they are paying him. frick LSU has Orgeron, who can’t call 1 side of the fricking ball ans paying his arse more than Fisher.

Freeman went to ND for less or comparable money to what LSU was offering. He went to stay up North and close to family. Unless we move LSU to Indiana or Ohio we weren't getting Freeman.
