Liberty undefeated and has barely missed a beat after Brother Hugh left em low and wet.
I think he could do some decent things at Arkansas

Guy is clearly a very good coach. He deserves a better job.

I'd be thrilled with that hire. But it seems like all the rumors point to us being more interested in Gus. This crap never ends.

This is the guy I don’t want A&M to hire because I think he’s a great coach. I wonder if he’ll ride it out at liberty and wait till Mack Brown hangs it up or Beamer is canned at SC?

Mississippi State will be all over him

He's making $4 million a year at Liberty.
I don't pretend to know his motivations, but why leave that for anything less than an ideal situation?

Oh man if y'all hire Gus I'll never stop laughing.

Really? How does Liberty have such deep pockets?

They have a massive endowment - $1.6B.
The university generates a couple hundred million in profit a year, most people assume from its underpayment of academic staff.

Wasn't there some reason bigger programs didn't poach him from Coastal before? I don't think it was anything necessarily bad, but I recall it being discussed in the past.

That would be a sneaky good hire for them. He runs a unique system or spin on a system, which also worked in Leach’s favor there.

Part of it is apprehension on how his scheme will translate up at the P5 level.

Yeah, Chadwell is running a modern triple option type of offense. Natural progression for the RPO.

I think he’ll be the hire. MSU is one and done’ing Arnett.

I got a lot of crap on this board saying he was a much better option and a much better coach than billy Napier.
I hope he sees tamu as too far out of his recruiting zones.

Arkansas rumored to be on him, too. Think his wife would choose Fayetteville over Starkvegas.

Yeah, but it’s different enough to scare ADs a little bit. Different means an often difficult transition. Leach had that kind of transition in year one overhauling State for his rigid brand of Air Raid.
I would hire him there. State is the kind of program where it benefits you to run something a little different than everyone else.

Which fanbase would be more patient if they see progress? We know Arkansas fans won’t be for very long.
I see Arnett differently. As basically an interim except in name, he made a strange decision to move away from an offense that was working and was very popular and fell flat on his arse. They are only regressing.

?? What makes you think we wouldn't be patient? Do you think we're overreacting firing Pittman?

Not necessarily. But moving to his system is probably a rough year one. Are you going to give him 2-3 more after?
State’s fanbase has been pretty forgiving to coaches who have an off year, as long as they bounce back. Mullen had a couple during his tenure.
