re: Schlitz beer no longer

Total Wine carries Hamm's in Houston. It reminded me of PBR/Lone Star/Miller Lite.

Beer gardens, even if they're not a brewery, where kids can run around, are *packed* in the burbs.

That's true for Senate Ave. They have a large patio (not so much a biergarten) and often have lots of families with small kids there. I used to wonder why they close so early (9 PM) but it makes sense if their primary customer base is families with kids. Business drops sharply after 7:30-8 from my experience.

Klaus Brewing, which closed a couple of years ago may have stuck around longer if they would have had a more family friendly venue. They were out here in CyFair but in what looked like part of an industrial park with just the building and a small patio. Have to cater to families with kids out here.

The first beer I ever tasted was Shlitz. My Dad was drinking it and thought I wouldn't like it it. I think I was 5 or 6. He was wrong, I've loved beer ever since
Thank's Dad! RIP!

Same. I was a toddler and my parents thought it was funny that I wanted a sip. I loved it and I would always ask for (and get) sips or even a little in my cup thereafter whenever they had a cold one.

They later migrated to Miller Lite, but I never forgot about Schiltz. I became a beer drinker for life at an early age and I suspect that was also why I loved my Mom's beer bread and beer biscuits so much.
Ashby's Special (crabmeat au gratin) - Don's in Shreveport

Clancy's hamburgers - Shreveport

Priazzo - Pizza Hut
Yeah, but that was Kiran's and they used a naan-based crust.

The places I'm referring to use a traditional hand-tossed or thin crust but with Indian seasonings and toppings.

Heck yes. I usually get one when I go back to visit family. It's a shame that the ones that were opened in DFW and the Houston area all shut down in short order. I went to one in the Addison area back when it was around and it tasted just like the ones back in N LA.
I wonder what he'd think of the many Indian-inspired pizza joints that are in NW Houston/Cypress? I love them but I'm sure they'd horrify purists.
The only time I use fruit in chicken salad is if I make curry chicken salad, which is my favorite type and for that I use dried apricots and golden raisins.
Platypus, in my opinion, declined after their original brewer left. The beer was never spectacular, but I liked a couple of them - Red Ranga and Bobby Dazzler. She took the recipe for Red Ranga with her. Things changed during Covid and they started selling cocktails and became a bar that happened to have a brewery. They're now going to open a restaurant and serve their beers that will be brewed offsite. I haven't been there in something like four years. They did have solid fish and chips as well as really good Brussels sprouts.

True Anomaly got screwed by 45 being moved to where they are and this will affect a lot of other businesses in that area. They hinted at a relocation in that same part of town, so it's not necessarily over for them. I liked their beers in the beginning as they did a lot of cool stuff with sours but the last couple of times I went it just seemed like it was more focused on hoppier styles which aren't really my thing. .

8th Wonder has new landlords that are also realtors and want to make $$ during the World Cup by either using it for parking or renting out the space to others. It's a short-sighted plan and screws the brewery. I hope the brewery wins their suit.

That being said, the only breweries I would still make an effort to visit are Equal Parts, Saint Arnold, and Senate Avenue Brewing (several of their beers are solid, if not amazing, the food is good, and it's the closest brewery to me). Those breweries all make a wide range of beers, which I prefer vs. umpteen boozy stouts and IPAs.

When I first moved here in 2012 there were hardly any breweries other than Saint Arnold. Then, in the next few years a bunch of new breweries entered the market and it became oversaturated.

edit: spelling
Real bastard checking in.

I use celery, dill pickles, mustard, boiled egg, mayo, red onion, parsley, and black pepper. No sweet stuff unless it's occasionally sweet pickle relish.

WTFis wrong with the Steeler’s?

One of the historically great franchises of the NFL has made some of the worst decisions over the past few years.

We haven't developed a QB since Ben. It's embarrassing.

I'd be fine rolling with Howard or Allar. Give them experience, suffer for.a year, and get some draft picks closer to the top of the order instead of consistently being one and done in the playoffs and picking towards the latter part of the rounds. We're not going to do shite this year anyway.
I wear a couple of Ocean Blue shirts around the house on occasion I bought during the last two times I saw them. Terrible quality/super thin but I bought merch to support the band.

OP: congrats on the new Jazzmaster. I really like JMs and offsets in general.

True about Squiers--I think they're a great bang for the buck especially the Classic Vibes and Paranormals. The Offset Tele S/J and CV Starcaster are two of my favorite guitars.
What in the name of Carter Ashton Jenkins is going on around here?
Other than the ginger mullet and Bernard, it's a veritable who's-that of college football players.

I really don't know what to think. I just don't ever get my hopes up anymore. Several years of one and done in the playoffs will do that to you.

I hope whoever leaked this in Pittsburgh gets shitcanned.

I also hope we move on from Rodgers. We're not doing jack this year, so might as well rebuild.

Well, he'll be NFL ready after being at Iowa under Kirk Ferentz. Guy knows how to prepare lineman for the NFL. Has to have a good work ethic. They work the crap out of them at Iowa. Physical blocker. Should fit that hard nosed Steeler mentality.

Thanks for the info. I just finished reading that ESPN article and he seems really into doing his own thing and has excelled at whatever he's tried while also being a good dude.

Drafted a whole bunch of reaches and projects. For now no starters and all backups. Just awful. Bernard the only one who will contribute this year. So far.

I’m a Steelers fan and I’m pretty cashed out after that pick. This has been an awful draft.

I'm not familiar with any of the players we've drafted. The only one that excites me a little is the Bama WR.Just a whole bunch of meh otherwise. .

Steelers Reddit is quite pissed about this.
