If he brings in legit assistant coaches, gives up play calling, and actually fires assistants when they suck, he might make an SEC title game with A&M. If he doesn't do those three he won't sniff a title game in the SECW. And he has already shown he wont do those three things.

The SEC was a dumpster fire this year, people haven't let go of 2011-14 yet

Kick Winston off for screaming obscenities on campus and getting caught having a guy hook him up with crab legs at Publix? Winston was an idiot but did not deserve getting kicked off the team.

That plus you know rape.

I obviously have no idea about the truth of the rape stuff but when you have that thrown your way you better not cause anymore shite. What did jameis do? Cause more shite.

Herman is going all in on rankings for the hype. All perimeter players, despite the obvious team needs being in the trenches.

Today 10 years and $7.5 mill sounds insane but in a few years it won't. The market for proven winners is already off the charts. When you should worry is when you pay a ton of guaranteed long term money to guys that haven't shown they can consistently win big, that's what we did with Sumlin.

The other issue is A&M has the resources to absorb it if it goes South in a few years.

He's the best coach on the market.

So was Sumlin. If money is not an object, why not go get Saban?

Sounds very similar to les miles and he’s been well below 10 wins a season when Jamis hasn’t been his qb

It depends on the buyout. If he does go to A&M we will have a better idea how good he is .

It's just you, at $7.5 M, anything short of being in the play offs regularly (like at least every 3rd year) and winning it every now and then will be a disappointment.

If they consistently going 9-3 or 10-2 will be considered failure.

I think it's the 10 years part that makes folks raise their eyebrows

The buyout would be huge even after 4-5 years

Jimbo has won a national title and almost 10+ games a season. What did people expect A&M to offer? Hell, Dan Mullen just signed on for $6million per year and he doesn't have a resume anywhere near Jimbo's.
I'm in agreement with you. The price tag is between two parties and depends on the leverage of one party (Jimbo) and the resources/need of the other (TAMU). And then the expectations. If I'm TAMU I'm making it clear a SECW win is an expectation; maybe including it as an escape in the contract. But with that, the price tag shouldn't be determined by the market (if TAMU chooses to think that way) or "convention". Nor should it be based on worst case (i.e. Jimbo sucking arse); you don't hire someone hoping it doesn't turn out bad. You hire someone to go forwards and upwards.

Besides, the market for winners of the SECW (speaking of Gus) is looking like it's around 7 MMUSD based on what Arky is prepared to pay. If your expectation is to win the W, then you pay as if you will be in that market range.

10 years is the only number I'd balk at. Not without some performance-based escapes for TAMU. Jimbo hasn't proved he is on that level yet.
