7.5 not that insane but fully guaranteeing it for 10 years is definitely a risk

Agreed, but they had to do it to get him out of Tallahassee.

it isnt some big worry but it doesnt help at all.

its a coach in the division that quality QBs are gonna want to go play for

that hurts us

And I also think people keep forgetting it's no more risky than hiring a young, unproven, up and comer only to have to tear it down after 3 or 4 years

There is risk in every hire. A&M is, hopefully, replacing some quality risk with financial risk instead of the other way around

A&M being vaulted into an SEC & playoff contender would make 3-4 bad years worth it.

His record this year is an outlier. I think every other year he has won at least 10 with three ACC titles and a national title.

ETA in an easier conference

He still won’t be the highest paid coach.

Well considering that this highest paid coach you speak of makes nearly double the amount the 3rd highest gets...

It's only insane if instead you want to pay some fat loser $3.5m to let his coaches coach.

Before this year, he led FSU to five straight playoff or NY6 bowl games.

A.) Who besides Saban or Meyer has had a run like that?

B.) What is his market value if his resume is third best in country?

10 years doesn’t matter, only the buyout. If he wins we’ll make it 30 years.

Perhaps if Meyer and Saban are considered unobtainable.

I'll grant he's the best coach currently open to negotiation.

Looks like A99y has closed the deal. $75 million of big swinging oil money dick. Nicely done.

Why are you taking away wins because he had a great player?
