I fully agree with your other points though. Outside of Meyer and Saban, hard to argue anyone has a better resume.

This year is definitely an outlier, but we are trending way, way down. If he stayed and cleaned house with the coaching staff and actually hired a play calling OC we would have recovered, but he's too loyal to the coaches he hires (did not fire one his entire time at FSU) and too stubborn in not hiring a play calling OC. He also burned a lot of bridges playing games with the coaching search.
If he sticks with the same MO at A&M he will definitely fail unless he can pick up another QB like Jameis. He's entering a harder conference division in CFB and against the greatest coach of all time. I think A&M will be lucky to even make an SEC title game with Jimbo at the helm. If the SECW was weaker and Saban wasn't at Alabama then I think Jimbo would do extremely well.

Yeah, that has worked out so well for Texas..money does not equal championships...would be interesting to plot past 10 NC winners based on revenue ranking..there are plenty of rich programs losing.

An elite qb like that can cover up some flaws in the college game. Hell it got Curley hallman competent. I think jimbo is good not great and almost every coach in the nation would have kicked winston off the team. I think he has poor character. He was not my number 1 choice either year (yes at the time last year I would have taken him over orgeron) but ten years at 7.5 mil you are talking about an all time type coach. Not a guy who basically had Florida to himself the last 7 years competition wise and is leading FSU to its first losing season since 1976. Think about lsu in the last 17 years in the SEC with all the shitty qbs we've had and sometimes even paired with shitty defenses (2008) and we didn't even go .500 in any regular season. Fsu likely loses their bowl and will be 6-7. I'm sorry that doesn't happen to elite coaches in their 7th year at an elite program

Kick Winston off for screaming obscenities on campus and getting caught having a guy hook him up with crab legs at Publix? Winston was an idiot but did not deserve getting kicked off the team.

He won the conference with two different QBs and went to major bowl games with four different QBs. Is he Saban? No. Is he better than almost anyone else? Yes

Not that big of a risk for a coach who you already know is one of the top 5 coaches in the country. It’d be a risk if he had only been at a mid major for a few years, or had only worked as a DLine coach with a failed history as a head coach.

Recruiting is not done yet, and Herman is trying to keep the lid on a full scale revolt in Austin. Jimbo to A&M is going to make life much more difficult for Herman.

It's the ACC. It's supposed to be fsu Miami and everyone else. Hell they came up with a dumbass division system to set it up that way. Florida was down Miami was down and in the panhandle he's a stones throw away from Georgia and Alabama for talent. Yet you could argue on resume that Les is a better hire. Had an undefeated regular season a 1 loss regular season and a national championship played in a tougher conference in a less talent rich area and isn't coming off a losing season
