Why would a dude who played for ND (got his arse whipped by LSU in the 06 Sugar Bowl)

He played for Ohio State, and got whipped by LSU in the 07 natty game.

But to your point, he seems loved at ND and has an easier path to the playoffs there, so I don't see him leaving.

Not to mention the reason he didn't come to LSU to begin with was that his wife supposedly wanted to stay in the Midwest

i like Freeman but this BS needs to die. They refuse to join a conference which makes winning easier. Every P$ team that plays ND has 8-9 more important games on their schedule than the ND game (conf games) outside of 2-3 games a year their schedule is loaded with mediocre teams. I really wish the Big 10 and SEC would tell their teams to not schedule games with ND to force them to enter a conference.

Freeman is a good coach. He won three playoff games last year and absolutely pantsed Georgia.

This is silliness

I dunno...maybe because hes done a decent job at ND...

I don't think he comes here. But, damn....that would really piss off the Irish.

freeman is a good coach so he doesn't belong in the DEI conversation. otherwise your points are valid.

It’s their excuse to inject race into the coaching search. Why would Freeman be a candidate, why would he leave ND in the middle of having the success he’s having.

This is stupidity. Anyone who has done hiring knows that racial balance are considerations in all hires. Freeman’s agent will get a call to gauge interest. More than likely his answer will be no but could be yes if genuinely interested or seeks to leverage his current employer.

Anybody making a major hire that does not include qualified minorities will be roasted by the press and put themselves in a bad PR spot from the beginning. Kelvin Shepard will also get a call and may decline based on his career path choice. If he wants an interview he would likely be down the list due to his lack of experience.

You might as well get used to it because it has been that way for the last 20 yrs. Only now there are more qualified candidates that might actually get the job

Marcus Freeman played for Ohio State.

And I’ll add that he will always be a threat to leave wherever he is (ND or LSU) for OSU, the second that job comes open.

I mean, if you win at ND is kind of impressive. Schools in the middle of BFE. There is literally nothing us there but the school. Its not a party school. Has pretty tough education requirements. Really difficult to attract top recruits who even are eligible.

There is so much wrong here lol

Freeman is not a diversity hire. He has proven he’s a legitimate coach. I wouldn’t cry over him being our next coach although I highly doubt he is leaving ND.

Agent doing his job and putting his client's name out there, esp to ESPN to get a bigger extension/contract or demand more from Penn St.

Freeman will not come down, I think it was his wife that stopped him from coming down here before because she didn't think she wanted to raise their kids in BR if I am recalling it correctly. I could be very wrong but I think that was the story, someone with better memory on it please correct me if I'm wrong.

Really surprised his name has gotten mention. We tried to hire him as DC and the wife didn't want to move.

We think for the right amount of money and private catholic schools she would change her mind?

I don't give a shite if the coach is blue, green, or whatever. I want to see someone who brings matching organization and direction for the talent and resources available to him. I want a tough, focused team again.
