No, hiring Kris Richard would be one of, if not the worst DC's we could hire, so it better not come down to that guy as a last resort. Bo Pelini is no worse than what Richard would be, and Pelini is nowhere near good enough to warrant being a DC in today's game.

#1 we aren't getting Arnett as he is just using us for leverage

#2 Raymond doesn't want to be DC

#3 Arnett has accomplished way more than Raymond and has been a very successful DC.

#4 stop posting, your takes are uneducated and dumb as frick. You have no reasoning behind your take that Raymond would be a better DC and nothing to back up your claim Arnett would be a bd hire and sure frick have nothing to back job as bad of a hire you could have statement.

Does CR even wanna be a DC? Does anyone even know this? If not give it a break, if he really did, then I would think he would've left by now

What are you basing your statements about Richard on? He has been a DC for 5 years and never had a scoring Defense in the NFL that was not in the top half in the league.

From 2015 to 2017, Seattle was 1st, 3rd, 13th in scoring D and in 2018 and 2019 Dallas was 6th and 11th in scoring defense.

Raymond sure has a few people pushing for him here. Wonder how much they are paid.

Well, by all means. Let's hire Raymond. Tigersquad89 has spoken. And we must satisfy Tigersquad89 with our hires.

That's kind of what I have always thought. Also, he is the recruiting coordinator. he get's paid like a DC without all of the pressure of calling plays.

I would prefer a college coach coach over a nfl guy. I believe the college guys see more of the rpo style offense and have to design offense for it where nfl guys tend to have the pro style under center . This is only my opinion, plus I think hiring somebody who has never had a hc job is hungry and wants to do better while old hc guy , how hungry is he.

Does cr want to be a DC, he is loved by everyone and should be the highest paid position coach in football. He is DBU. There is alot of pressure coming with being a DC he may not want.

When it comes to zac Arnett he is 34 and hungry . He is also a Linebacker coach as that is where he played. He in 18 took sd state to 32 in total defense and in 19 to to #2. Then took msu from number 72 in 19 with an average of 63 plays to number 52 in 20 with the same players and average 70 plays with the offense they had. So more plays a game and still a better offense.

So much sense that no other P5 program in the entire country has ever thought of it.

Corey has an unreal position in life.

Gets paid like a brain surgeon to coach defensive backs and recruit, is essentially unfireable, and has very little pressure on him.

If I were him, I'd ride this wave another decade and hang it up.

Well maybe what O should do is give Corey back the responsibilities of all the DB's. Hire your DC and then hire a LB coach or DL coach, depending on what the DC wants to do.

Someone on this board had the best response to the Raymond stans IMO. 1) if he wanted to be a coordinator, he would have made that known after Aranda left. 2) if he wanted the job and Orgeron believed, Pelini probably would have been fired mid-season and Raymond given a trial run. I don’t think he wants to be a coordinator, and we shouldn’t make him the DC anyway

My guess is that is the plan. For example:

Arnett: DC/LB
Coach X: DL
Corey: DBs

or

Nielsen: DC/DL
Coach X: LBs
Corey: DBs

However; if our Offensive staff is:
Peetz: OC
Mangas: PGC
Joseph: WRs
Faulk: RBs
Cregg: OL
and McMahon: ST

We could still add a defensive coach - safeties or DL/LB. Or, a wildcard like bringing back Decoster as TE coach or Callaway promoted to QB coach. It's offensive heavy, but Decoster could come in and work with TEs and OL in 2021 and possibly take the OL job in 2022.
