If LSU were to hire Aranda I think he'd keep Jones as DC.

Listen, I'm actually a big fan of what Jones has done this year and have been vocally supportive of him since early in the season when lots were still saying he was terrible. But there's no way you make your HC hire based on who will keep your first year DC in place. Whoever comes in should get to set their own staff. Daronte Jones has done enough to probably warrant the new head coach at least talking with him and considering whether to retain him, but you don't handcuff that decision.

This is Gubdys best defense in 10+ yrs. Big12 consistently doesn't have good defenses at all. Rhule had some decent at Baylor and Aranda does now. OSU does now. But as a whole and consistently it hasn't existed.

That's 4 pretty good defenses this year for a league that you say can't produce good defenses. Where's Oklahoma? They are currently ranked 70th. That's not very good. Hell LSU is ranked 68th, and it seems like we've only played defense for 2 games.
Obviously you can have a reasonably stout defense in the Big-12. But Riley and Oklahoma never seem to have one. That's not the Big-12. That's not a lack of access to players. That's just not getting it done.

And keep watching, because the team with the best defense (Oklahoma State) is going to take down Oklahoma and Riley's vaunted offense in 2 weeks and win the Big-12.

Yeah if I didn't have this coaching search to have fun with and take my focus off of the games I would end up kicking the dogs. This shite has been a blast and it's easier to have fun with it knowing that Woodward will hire a good coach.

My whole thing is three days ago people swore up and down Riley was coming and had signed a deal. Now they are nowhere to be found and it’s like it never happened.

Nobody posted anything definitive. People are “hearing things”. It’s up to you to decide who, if anyone, you believe. Personally, I don’t know who the next coach will be. Like I posted before. I was told it was Riley for 11.4/7 years by a guy who called the Orgeron hire weeks before it was announced. I’m not saying this guy is any insider. I just assumed he got lucky with the Orgeron call. I would t have even brought up what he told me about Riley had Castor not made this post the night that the guy told me about the Riley deal. I’m not even saying I believe my own “source” just that it was an odd coincidence coinciding with this post.

Nobody knows anything. Anybody here who claims otherwise is just throwing a dart and hoping it sticks so then they’ll claim they were right if it happens and if it doesn’t “things just fell through.”

It's not Riley right now because they're starting to get tired of bouncing numbers off them and they come back with a higher number. He may be playing LSU for a raise which they're not going to play that game. It seems they may move to the next coach down the list.

I’m fine with that. Riley, who I think is a decent coach and would absolutely be better than what we currently have, still is not my first choice.
