I'm not pro or anti any coach. I root for LSU and enjoy watching this circus. However, I don't care who the next LSU coach is because it won't change my life, although there are a couple of prominently-mentioned candidates that would cause me to puke and give up watching or caring about the team.

That said, I've seen all the reasons you're against him: failed at OM, don't fire a HC to hire a DL coach, need someone with coordinator experience, hasn't shown he can build a team, etc. I've also seen those arguments refuted. Personally, I have no clue whether he's qualified or not, and I don't think you really do, either.

Do you actually know anything about him? Are you watching practices? Sitting in team meeting? Sitting in coaches' meetings? Do you know what the team thinks or feels? Do you have any real idea what he's telling and showing Alleva and others?

I saw someone post in another thread that the pro-Os are making emotional decisions and ignoring logic because they want him to succeed. Aren't you doing the same thing?

The point is, what's the point of conducting a search if you automatically - and emotionally - exclude a candidate out of hand? If O should just happen to be the best candidate, YOU WOULD NEVER SEE IT, because you're just as emotionally attached to your position as the pros are to theirs.

Where? Every time I ask a fricking question I get crickets. I mean, I've read Meat Market, which again puts me ahead of many Coach O supporters. He doesn't exactly come across as anything but out of his element in that book. His record supports that he was out of his element.

My primary question that no one has answered is why should LSU be the proving ground that he has learned from his mistakes? All I'm saying is that if he wants to coach here so badly, he should do it like literally everyone else and be a head coach somewhere else, and win games.

I don't see anyone claiming objectivity. Everyone has a perspective. It doesn't mean yours isn't idiotic.

I can't recall any coach in any sport having the degree of failure that O had, and then succeeding somewhere else. People say Pete Carroll, but he made the playoffs two of his four years in the pros in his first stint, and had a 27 and 21 record at NE.

I don't understand why this is so hard to understand for some.

By your logic, we shoudl interview literally every candidate BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW

The Anti-O's are looking at the man's record and it isn't good as a Coach who runs a program.

I think he can definitely get a team up and at em for a game.

But he hasn't shown he can hire good Co-Ordinators. He hasn't shown he can win year after year. At this point he has shown that Dave Aranda is a good DC, and Leonard Fournette is a good running back. Whats becoming clear is the hasn't played 2/4 best teams on our schedule yet, and he wasn't HC for the other 2.

Okay so here's the deal. Based on public knowledge he is not qualified. He has never been a successful HC...It's that simple.

Now on the other hand, there are literally 50 other coaches who ARE qualified, because the have run programs and have a pretty good winning percentage. Once again, it's that simple.

What he's doing behind closed doors does not further his list of qualifications, because he's already missing the number 1 criteria.

Quite franlly, I don't give a damn what the team feels. Football players usually want to keep what is right in front them...because it's easy.

Most of these guys will be gone in 2-3 years tops. So they don't get a say.

Lmao...ok bud. It's not that it's never O. It's that there are better candidates out there who are above him. Thanks for starting a "coach o" thread though. You made sure we got to the 30/day mark like every other fricking day. Bravo sir...bravo.

This is the most illogical, scatterbrained post on the coaching board, which is saying a lot.

I don't care how any coach is in team meetings or in the locker room. There are many folks full of energy and noble goals who have breathtakingly failed.

If we can do better than Coach O, we should. Not sure how that's an emotional concept.

You could have said the exact same thing about Miles, and he would have still been here

Miles body of worked has proven since 2009 that LSU was a 3+ loss team, even with NFL level talent. Now that hes gone, hes been exposed

Coach Os body of work says he can succeed with a team that was built and staffed by someone else, but is not capable of doing it himself. Case in point, he wants Sabans OC, because he doesn't know where to look otherwise

We don't know that now. He failed at Ole Miss, yes, but that was close to 10 years ago and he hasn't had the chance to do it again to say definitively that he's not capable.

O's not my first choice, but to say it's not possible for him building a program, or even sustaining one, now is a statement based on fear that LSU won't hire your personal top choice.

Les was incapable of learning or adapting. Doesn't mean Orgeron is.

Hasn't had the chance or refused to take those opportunities?

With how frequently coaches get recycled, I find it hard to believe that there wasn't one school out there that would have hired him as HC. So maybe he believes he's above proving himself at a smaller program. And that bothers me just as much.
