How do you state all that shite, with kind of ridiculous numbers included, and then say OR he gets rid of everyone?

It's a pretty darn good staff though

I posted this two months ago in a thread here, it got 11 upvotes(TAFers? TPTB?)..

Jimbo would work with LSU's Ath Dept in regards to coaches on staff that need retaining in BR.. I have to believe this would be a factor to Alleva/TPTB.

Fisher ain't coming to LSU unless his children would go with him. He almost quit fb to be with his young son who has rare illness.

I wouldn't mind at all if you're right, but a head coach at 6 million a year, DC at 2 million, and a DL coach at 1 million? They better make Saban cry and quit for that kind of money.

Wasn't there talk that Fisher's son's treatment was in part tied to a Baton Rouge area specialist?

FWIW, I have a friend who is a former LA legislator, very well heeled, and knows many others in those circles in the state. He's told me he fully expects Jimbo to be the guy.

^^^^ this is the closest I have, and likely ever will, come to insider knowledge.

Herman should be the first choice.

I think there was some talk about his son's treatment in the BR area but imagine his son would have to travel over 400 miles or 1 hour flying for treatment then it wouldn't work for him I think unless they all would move to BR and let some fb guys to keep his ex busy.

Us hiring Jimbo doesn't necessarily mean we passed on Herman. Who knows what Herman's goals are.

Damn if you do, damn if you don't.

Herman comes and is successful (no more than two losses per year) he's gone in 3 years...pro or elsewhere. If he sucks he's gone in 3 years.

Jimbo comes and is successful I think he stays. If he sucks he's gone in 3 years.

Basically I think this is a destination job for guys like Jimbo and O. Up and comers like Fleck and Herman may see this as a stepping stone job.

As I have said in numerous posts, it's all about the fit...

I absolutely agree with that. No one can convince me Herman would be at LSU for 10 years. He's too young. Why wouldn't he try out the nfl if they were to come a'callin'?

Jimbo is beyond that. He's a college coach.

Wait you wouldn't hire a guy because you're afraid he would be so good he'd go to the NFL?? That is seriously a problem for you??

Why do you think Herm would go to the NFL if successful? Not all college coaches like to coach in the big league. Ask Meyers, Stoops, Patterson, Petersen, and many more.

Not afraid but you have to take that into consideration. If you was hiring someone for any job you hope he is successful in the job in which you are hiring him for. However if you view 2 candidates equally then you have to take into account who would be willing to stay and who may have an eye for a bigger gig. Because the timing of his departure can be devastating in today's arms race

Because NFL executives are already salivating. For some, the courtship of the big leagues will be two strong. It's the same reason some aim for P5 jobs - the hunger for more.

Maybe the fit wasn't there for those guys. Maybe timing didn't work. I wouldn't have thought Spurrier, Kelly, and Saban would take a NFL job before they did, but I recognize how their curiosity to see how they would fit was strong in their decision.

I think Herman and Fleck may have that same urge. NFL folks aren't hiring to many college guys these days some when they do they will court hard

Maybe the fit wouldn't be there for Herm or Fleck like other top college coaches. You have to take a chance at them otherwise you would be in sorry that you missed that great young college coach. Ask UF if they thought Meyers would go to the NFL when they hired him.

Has nothing to do with fearing he'd be too successful. Has everything to do with I think fisher could get similar results but would stay for his remaining career

There is no way this is true. It's way too good to be true. Jimbo might be the guy but absolutely no way hell they're going to keep that entire staff here.
