Says who? Whoever takes that job gets to compete with Bama for every single instate recruit. Auburn has never out recruited Alabama for the top instate talent. No matter who was coaching at Alabama at the time. It is a reason so many have turned that job down over the years.

Auburn outrecruited Bama in 2025 in state. We signed 6 out of the top 10. Thats with Auburn coming off our worst stretch in our lifetime.

Auburn will not go for a splash hire. Freeze was the closest they’ve had. Chiz and Harsin were both head scratchers, and Malzahn came in from Arky State being their former OC.
