In 7 years before he got to FAU, they won 21 games. He won 25 in three seasons (could have ended up 26).

Tennessee was two games better than the year before he got there.

USC was crippled with sanctions and scholarship restrictions and no one since then has done what you suggest should be done with "3 times the talent of all the other PAC teams."

And I don't give a crap about the Raiders when comparing to what someone can/will do in the college game.

Younger crowd loves him because he chases coeds and tweets stuff, but he's an average coach with a history of maturity and commitment to nothing

But he will go 6-6, 7-5, some larger school in a big city will get excited and he'll be gone in a few years.

I believe had Lane stayed at UT with the staff he put together they would've built a powerhouse. I was so glad he bolted for the West Coast.

He’ll be decent at ole miss. Probably recruit solidly. They’ll be more competitive than what they are now

Eh, His career college record is 60-34 and has two 10-win seasons at a pretty putrid FAU program. Kiffin is overrated but not bad like you are presenting

Rod Carey has pretty much the exact same record (60-34) and the same number of conference titles (2) and is only four years older than Kiffin yet people on this board were repulsed about the idea of him being their HC.

He has 3 10 win seasons as a head coach. That's pretty damn impressive for someone of his age.

What all did bama win with him as OC?

His resume is pretty damn impressive. If you don't see him as having an impressive resume you are IMO letting his antics cloud your judgement.

The other thing that is very underated IMO, is you have to believe that Kiffin's name, ability to work the media, and fame are going to bring the recruits in. Ole Miss needs a guy that can turn a couple of big recruits. Bring in just 2-3 impact players and you turn that 4-8 year into a 7-5 year.

All the openings he was up for has a give me anything better than we have or had. Kiffin is a bright shiny object for their fan base to get behind. He will win 7-8 games a year and recruit pretty well but will not consistently compete with the SEC West powers. Won’t do as well as Freeze did but better than the last coach.

There is more to the story than losing because of sanctions at USC. He was losing the locker room and he essentially told Hayden that he was too busy to meet with him.

To piss off Hayden is a chore. He is one of the most likeable guys in all of sport....and one of the smartest as well.

Wait. Most talented rosters? Most talented rosters don’t have first picks. You do know Jamarcus Russel was forced on him. He was also 31 years old.

Tennessee was a shite show when he took over.

USC was on a two year bowl ban and had 30 scholarship reduction. BTW O’s record including this year is 53-36. Kiffin you ask? 64-34.

He brought Alabama’s offense into this century.

He won two conference titles at FAU and your Briles take, he may be coming along.

USC - Trojans ungrateful, not acknowledging effects of sanctions

I love the Kiffin hire at Ole Miss, but he was absolutely justifiably fired at USC. He didn't have his head right, his personal life was a mess, and was only going to get worse. There are accounts of him getting trashed and acting the fool before the Sun Bowl vs. Pitt, and Kennedy Pola (former SC coach and Troy Polamalu's uncle) dotted his eye, hence the dark glasses on game day, and SC's abyssmal performance in a bad loss to Pitt. When his head was in the game, he did well for SC, and managed a talented but extremely small (no depth of scholarship players) group and won some games. He also got blown out by ASU, and Todd (pedophile posterboy Graham) was at the helm for the Devils. That was the last straw.

The guy was horrid at Oakland with one of the most talented rosters (at the time) in the AFC.

What are you talking about? The raiders went 2-14 the year before he got there and he was only there a season and a half.

Orgeron actually coached Lane’s USC squad much better than Lane did...so much so that he was in the running for the job.
