Tennessee was two games better than the year before he got there.
Meh, UT was in the SECCG in ‘07, then had a horrendous offseason before ‘08 where they lost David Cutcliffe, Matt Luke, and Kurt Roper off the staff. Fulmer lost close games and had a ton of off the field issues. It was his time to step away. Two games better in ‘09 wasn’t a miracle turnaround.

What are you talking about? The raiders went 2-14 the year before he got there and he was only there a season and a half.
The 4 years before he got there the Raidahs won 4,5,4,2 games Their QBs in 2006 were Andrew Walter and Aaron Brooks
The leading rusher was Nikki Vargus husband. they were at best a top 16 roster in the AFC
Clearly his rep and more his act clouds people's judgement. He did get some big jobs early, that he was probably unqualified for. But after USC, his stints at Alabama and FAU he definitely deserves a shot at a better job

Kiffykins is fricking entertaining.
With Layla gone, I'm sure he was tenderizing all kinds of hot coed poon down in Florida. North Mississippi is a hotbed of all the different kinds of ways one may thump a bible and is just a little less tolerant of shite like that. I CANNOT WAIT for the inevitable "Lane Kiffin puts his penis somewhere God does not approve of" scandal.
LONG LIVE JOEY FRESHWATER!

This is one of the most ignorant statements on this board.
First of all, Oakland sucked before he got there.
Second of all, he basically went apeshit on Al Davis when Davis insisted they draft Jamarcus Russell. Davis wanted him fired after that altercation.
Soon afterwards, Jamarcus was sippin purple drank, Al was dead, and Lane was winning somewhere else

Kiffin isn't nearly as bad a coach and this board makes him out to be. Great recruiter and has had success at the college level.

He's not bad and has had some success but he's not had protracted success in the SEC, especially in the SEC West. Time always tells but based on his comedic Twitter Tour with snapshots of MSU and LSU, I'd say he has not gotten over his sophmoric antics. He will be just what Ole Miss graves and is...all show and no substance.

He will win a few he should not and likely lose a few he should not. The questions are :
1) can he make them a consistent 8-9 win team with the occasional 10-11 win season
2) can he beat State 3/4 or better
3) can he keep the games with LSU, Alabama and Auburn competitive year end and year out
4) can he beat Memphis every year and lock down that area for recruiting
If he focuses on 2 and 4 the first two years , he will be fine by years three and four. Mix in one big “program” win and he can elevate OM to where Merlins has State.

How is his year with Briles any better than this year without him?
It's a shame that Briles couldn't perform his miracle work at FSU.

His best year at FAU was due to Kendal Briles offense.
Who hired Briles? This is akin to saying that O does not get the credit this year because he did with the Ensminger/Brady offense.

He was above average at UT and USC. While being in his early 30s. If you cant see his talent at coaching, I am not sure what to tell you.
