Gotta think even an athletic department as queer and retarded as theirs wouldn’t pay $76 million and not at least have a verbal agreement, right?

Only heterosexual and cisgender athletic departments have a plan

we always assume these folks have a plan. but more often than not, they are making it up as they go along.

I actually don’t think they have anyone locked in and this could drag on for weeks...

We badly need to conduct an actual coaching search. Every hire post Slocum has been a booster or small faction of boosters deciding their shiny toy is the best and writing a check. It clearly hasn’t worked

what has history taught us with A&M? If there is a way to built up hope and then smash it all to hell, A&M will do it.

Elko seems like such an obvious and good choice for them. It’ll be interesting

I think A&M has a plan. The first program to make a move usually has an idea of what they want to do.

The other schools, not so much. They just know the coaching carousel has officially started, so they better jump on now and figure out which horse to ride later.

Ross Bjork? Dude gave Jimbo a buyout that was bigger than his original 10 yr contract. He paid Matt Luke $12M. Bjork is an idiot. He doesn't have a plan.

I don't think they pull the trigger this early without having something in principle.

Either that, or they wanted to be the first to have the jump on any other programs who are thinking about firing their guys.

I hope they don't touch Jeff Traylor. That's the name that worries me. Will be cheaper. Texas high school guy. And has done an awesome job at UTSA. I don't want him in the SEC.

And the 12th man foundation gave $160m check to athletics Saturday. Jimbo is getting $16m upfront and the remainder over the life of the contract. They have more than enough donors that were willing to make a tax free donation to just get rid of the problem.

correct. and in any other work setting, he'd be fired for burning up so much money. but now he gets to hire the next guy. only in college athletics

I don’t know if Aggie boosters will go down and get non P5 guy honestly. You can’t pay a 76 million buyout and sign up a conference USA guy imo. Elko is probably the best bet. Kiffin would do work there though

Have you had any experience with A&M fans? I promise you they have no plans. This is a panic decision made because their egos won't tolerate the level of mediocrity they have become. It has been this way since RC Slocum.

They will get a new guy and start chest beating again in no time.
