Somehow he managed to accomplish nothing during Covid.

That’s most impressive

The show was over. No more press .

Then covid. A PERFECT excuse /time to stay locked inside for safety due to his age and obesity and finish the book .

Still.. nothing.

Still can’t believe he’s told this grand story for mother fricking Bran to be King.

I’ve given up all hope that this book, much less the series will ever be finished.

Sadly, this. As a guy who has spent time writing a story, stopped, and then come back to continue it after an extended time away, it can be very hard to jump back into those characters and voices.

Worst part is that unlike say Robert Jordan estate with WoT, GRRM seems to be vocal that he doesn't want anyone finishing ASOIAF if he dies.

He also supposedly doesn't have some master outline to be used anyways

but I'm done with this dude.

I agree with the sentiment but the cold, hard truth is that if a book ever comes out I'll pre-order pretty much as soon as it's available. I'm a little bit ashamed of that because I really do loathe the fricker.

What about any “thing”? ChatGPT can finish it. Better than nothing.

And probably better than the way the TV series ended.

John Grisham, Jodi Picoult and George R.R. Martin are among 17 authors suing OpenAI for “systematic theft on a mass scale,”

quote:

The lawsuit cites specific ChatGPT searches for each author, such as one for Martin that alleges the program generated “an infringing, unauthorized, and detailed outline for a prequel” to “A Game of Thrones” that was titled “A Dawn of Direwolves” and used “the same characters from Martin’s existing books in the series “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

This time last year, GRRM said he had 1,100 pages of TWOW written with 400-500 to go.

According to GRRM’s latest update on a podcast 2 weeks ago, he has roughly 1,100 pages of TWOW written.

quote:

The main thing I'm actually writing, of course, is the same thing... I wish I could write as fast as [The Last Kingdom author Bernard Cornwell] but I'm 12 years late on this damn novel and I'm struggling with it.

I have like 1,100 pages written but I still have hundreds more pages to go. It's a big mother of a book for whatever reason. Maybe I should've started writing smaller books when I began this but it's tough. That's the main thing that dominates most of my working life.

Ummm…no. For whatever reason I am skeptical of his assertion.

Bernard Cornwell can write shockingly fast without losing quality.

I've gotten to where i just despise this guy. I thought he would at least get TWOW out before he dies, I actually don't know if he gets that far now, much less a ADOS.

Fairly certain he has no working life.

GRRM is a con man.

He has no clue how to end the series. In addition to having no plan laid out, he wants to subvert everyone's expectations.

So now he's sitting on his fat arse eating pizza and waiting for inspiration to strike him with an ending that makes perfect sense but also that none of his fans have thought of yet.

Dumb bastard still hasn't figured out this is an impossible task.

And Brandon Sanderson is amazingly prolific and also amazingly creative.
