LSU sophomore defensive tackle Siaki Ika is reportedly entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, according to 247 Sports.

Former four-star defensive tackle Siaki Ika, who played in 13 games in a back-up role as a true freshman last fall and helped the Tigers claim a national championship, is entering the transfer portal, a source informs 247Sports.

With the Tigers shifting to a 4-3 defensive front from a 3-4, the 6-foot-4, 340-pound nose tackle has seen his reps diminish. According to Geaux247 reporter Shea Dixon, Ika met with Orgeron on Tuesday to discuss his playing time.

Why have we heard nothing about Ishmael Sopsher, who entered the transfer portal at AL)? He might fit-the-bill to replace a Ika loss!?!

I get the 4-3, 3-4 thing. He is a nose tackle. I just do not get leaving mid-season, especially since you get a mulligan year. Stay, work out, eat well, he would play some and then leave at end of season. But, it is what it is.

That's a good point. Makes me wonder if he's also a little sour since he's getting passed up by some of the younger DL. Hope all goes well for Ika. Had high hopes for him until we switched to a 43.

One would think we’d still have some packages that we could use that employ the 3-4. Every time we got loose all I heard was WAAAAH HOO!! Loved it!! Dude is gonna be a good one next year wherever he goes!! Kinda wish we’d kept with the 3-4 and been able to also keep Shelvin. I’m sure that had a ton to do with him opting out. Definitely didn’t help matters.

I think Shelvin opting out was more due to him being overweight and not wanting to put in the work to get his weight back down except for doing so for the draft. Losing Shelvin definitely hurt us.

I would hate to see him go. He has great feet, leverage, and upper body strength. Son, if you're looking to make it at the next level, being able to play in a 4-3 will be to your credit. NFL Scouts already know you can play over center---versatility will help your draft position.

Good luck to the kid, just not a 4-3 fit.

Dude seems like the 4-3 fit not good for LSU in 2020.

Guess he’ll be going to TCU? Isn’t that where all our transfers go?

He showed up to play Saturday nite, guess it was his goose song, (no swans in BR). But, you can see the issues with the defense, these guys were recruited to play on Aranda's defense, therefore, several of them are not going to fit into the new scheme. Ya think Joey B would have came here if Miles was still here.

The new scheme is garbage.

Agreed, let him know we’ll pay double what Baylor is paying him to come back to Baton Rouge.

Apu was what O sold us as a consolation prize for striking out on Sopsher. Now both are in the portal.

Its not the transfer due to scheme change thats an issue.....we all understand his predicament. The main issue is the timing.
