LSU defensive line analyst Patrick Hill is expected to join Colorado's staff as defensive tackles coach under new head coach Deion Sanders.

Hill is the second LSU staffer to move on to Colorado as former Director of Player Personnel Corey Phillips just recently took the same position on Sanders' staff in December. Per On3:
quote:

Before LSU, Hill was the defensive line coach at Division III Birmingham Southern in 2021.

Hill had been set to be the defensive line coach at Nicholls State last offseason but instead took the analyst position at LSU, where he worked under rising star defensive line coach Jamar Cain and helped the Tigers improve from 10th in the SEC in scoring defense last year to fifth this season.

As far as I have seen, unless I've missed someone, Deion has only hired 1 on-field assistant from a P5 program.

He hired Charles Kelley from Alabama to be defensive coordinator. Every other coach has come from G5, FCS or an off-field analyst.

This is a big red flag, and one of the major problems with hiring coaches with little to no history in coaching -- they don't have a network of coaches to pull from.

I like Sean Lewis. I think he's got potential at OC. Perhaps some other coaches are better than their resumes appear.

But he didn't hire a single coach from the Pac 12. His entire staff is coming into a conference without knowing anything about the league, the coaches and the players.

This is bad.

This is literally an article about him hiring a coach from a power 5 school (LSU) as his defensive tackles coach.????

@337 but he wasn’t an on field coach/assistant he was an off field analyst

It's not bad. He's getting people that are desperate for an on the field coaching role. They'll work themselves to death to succeed. You don't need anyone with Pac 12 experience. It's a shite league. You need drive, dedication, determination, and the will go fight. He's getting that. In Spades.

Deion, take Brian Polian, please.

So, good luck to him. He will need it. Dion done well picking up a few prize recruits to beat Southern and Mississippi Valley State. That won't work where he is now, especially with a team with shallow pockets.

A team with shallow pockets? are you really that stupid? GO TO BED...

BiggDogg53 The president said they do not have the money to pay Deon yet. They hoped that by hiring him that the boosters would open their wallets. That sounds like right now they have shallow pockets.

Deon, do you have any interest in Polian?

Some of you are obviously not aware of how good a recruiter Polian is. Special teams will probably be much better as well next season.

Deion Sanders is an unproven Head Coach who has 3 years total of SWAC coaching experience. This staff he is hiring is laughable. He is hiring the staff he is hiring because Colorado can barely pay Prime’s 6 million dollar salary. The AD admitted they didn’t have the money to pay Sanders (yet). So why do geniuses think he is hiring all these low level coaches and analysts? This is a disaster in the making.

How do you know that these are "smart smart" hires? Do you have anything at all to support that?

Hiring “analysts” to be position coaches and hiring 5 coaches from the SWAC/MEAC is a sign of
poor hiring. 1 or 2 but byBen

These are smart hires because he is establishing a staff to recruit Louisiana with.... He has to recruit where there are good players... and as we all know, La has good players.
