CBS Sports Predicts LSU's 2026 Record With Game-By-Game Picks

Brad Crawford of CBS Sports recently made his 2026 SEC football predictions with game-by-game picks and projected win-loss record for every team in the conference.

Crawford predicts LSU to finish 10-2, 7-2 with road losses at Ole Miss and Tennessee and has the Tigers making the College Football Playoff as the No. 9 seed.
quote:

LSU

Projected record: 10-2, 7-2

Wins: Clemson, Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M, McNeese, at Kentucky, Mississippi State, at Auburn, Alabama, Texas, Arkansas

Losses: at Ole Miss, at Tennessee

Can LSU fans stomach losses to both of Lane Kiffin's rival programs in his first season as long as the Tigers reach the CFP? That answer should be a resounding yes. He wasn't brought to LSU to merely compete for playoff spots -- he was hired to bring championships back to Baton Rouge. That's why Brian Kelly was fired after three-plus years. Expectations are sky-high, and a 10-2 regular season would represent a strong first step toward meeting them. Given the Tigers' talent level, expected quarterback play and favorable roster construction, LSU should spend most of the season inside the national top 15. At 10-2 overall, the Tigers would likely earn one of the CFP's top at-large seeds, potentially landing in the No. 6 to No. 8 range depending on how the SEC race and other leagues unfold. More importantly, LSU would enter the postseason as a legitimate threat. Kiffin's offenses have always been dangerous, and with championship-caliber athletes across the roster, the Tigers would be a difficult out in the bracket.

Projected final SEC standings

Team (Projected record) Projected finish

Texas (12-1, 8-1) SEC title game winner; CFP No. 2 seed

Georgia (11-2, 8-1) SEC title game runner-up; CFP No. 5 seed

LSU (10-2, 7-2) CFP No. 9 seed

Ole Miss (9-3, 6-3) CFP No. 11 seed

Alabama (9-3, 6-3) Citrus Bowl

Texas A&M (8-4, 5-4) ReliaQuest Bowl

Oklahoma (8-4, 5-4) Gator Bowl

Tennessee (8-4, 5-4) Las Vegas Bowl

South Carolina (7-5, 4-5) Texas Bowl

Auburn (7-5, 4-5) Gasparilla Bowl

Florida (6-6, 3-6) Liberty Bowl

Missouri (6-6, 3-6) Music City Bowl

Vanderbilt (6-6, 3-6) Birmingham Bowl

Kentucky (5-7, 2-7) N/A

Arkansas (4-8, 2-7) N/A

Mississippi State (4-8, 1-8) N/A

Lemme get this straight. His logic is that we're good enough to beat Clemson, Texas A&M, Alabama, and Texas, but will lose to Ole Miss and Tennessee because Lane Kiffin coached there and they hate him? Suuure.Whelp, I guess we know what the media narrative is going to be this season. "LSU is good but Lane's a heel." I thought we already did that with BK?

The narrative is always going to be to hate Lane at LSU. It comes with the territory. I am perfectly fine with everyone hating us if it means we get LK as our coach.

I'll take 2-1 during the Clemson, OM, and TAM swing, and 2-1 during the Bama, Tx and Tenn stretch. Stay healthy, get the right breaks, and 10-2 is attainable.

When on earth are these idiots going to stop predicting Texas to win the SEC? Every year, same hype, same results.

LSU is not losing to this Tennessee team. Their defense will be cheeks and the QB situation is not ideal. LSU rolls them in Neyland.

I posted a similar post as yours BUT very much so more direct. Calling out the legacy media for attempting to set a very high bar for Kiffin's first year, hence, creating drama for the LSU faithful. Let's see if burying it here slides by the liberal monitors. Yep, I posted it two times and both times it disappeared........WATCHING THE POLICE!

LSU is not losing to Ole Miss and Ole Miss QB is notgoing to be the same as last year with a new team and a new coach.

He shouldn't be allowed to play, at all. The whole 'local judge' thing, just like at Texas Tech, makes a sham of the rules. If the NCAA declared him ineligible per the rules, yet the court says he can play, even though the rules say he can't, that taints every game he plays and when the NCAA is vindicated on appeal, the games they play and win should be forfeited for the record, and any 'records' he sets as a result of his play should be thrown out.

“ Texas A&M (8-4, 5-4) ReliaQuest Bowl” nothing would delight me more

I'll take that all day. 10-2 is pretty much a lock for the playoffs and that's the goal.

A&M with 4 SEC losses? Obviously Ole Miss is the new SEC darling. I’m really exciting to see Lane’s in game coaching. This could be a very good year.

LSU vs Ole Piss is just the third game on the schedule for LSU, but it's the Holy Grail for dem fools at Ole Piss. LSU will go into this game ultra focus on completing a phenomenal game plan and Ole Piss will be so jacked on the Kiffin revenge kick that their focus will blow in the wind. After blowing Clemson out in Tiger Stadium, our confidence will be high and focus refined and we're coming in Vaught-Hemingway standing on business.
