Three-star safety Dakota Mitchell announced Friday night that he has decommitted from LSU.

The 5-11, 170-pound prospect from Winter ParK, Florida, originally committed to LSU back on March 19, picking the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, Florida, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M, and many others.

LSU now has 11 verbal commits for the class of 2021.

"Respect my decision"--okay, what if I choose not to?

Bigger loss than people are saying, our biggest needs are S and OT

Three star safety.

Dude must be pretty freaking talented though if Bama, Clemson, UGA, etc., also offered him.

I don't know the kid or the situation, but all decommitments/transfers aren't by choice. Maybe the staff is expecting a commitment from someone higher on the totem pole and suggested that the kid look elsewhere. Happens more than we know.

Freddy238•77 months

He had to be processed, the kid had so much love for us and was recruiting other players to join him. I guess the Kaine Williams flipping from Bama to us must be true.

So an incoming Freshman wants to have a say on what defensive setup. I think not. Go to where you think it works best for you!

Somebody has to say it-'no chest'...

Roll Clyde Roll•77 months

He did not necessarily have the chest and the ability to lead a program so you know

I get it. I guess his Instagram, Facebook, Twitter hits have fallen off. This is the “look at me” and “how many hits” generation.

Exactly. At least coach O let's these guys know early in the process so they can make other arrangements before the last minute.

This “respect my decision” trend needs to go somewhere. You made a decision that you felt was right for yourself, no one had to validate or respect it. I wish the young man luck

Safety at 170 lbs will not be a safety in college football

Tiger4life5803•77 months

TM7 was a CB

BigDropper•77 months

TM7 was a DB. He was positioned where he could make the biggest impact whether that was out wide, at the line of scrimmage, or back deep.
