During a recent episode of his "Big Podcast," former LSU star Shaquille O'Neal was asked about his son Shareef transferring out of the Tigers' Basketball program and where he might end up next?

In his response, Shaq said that he didn't think LSU took care of his son...
quote:

"Wherever he decides, I'm behind him," O'Neal said. "He's a grown man. Make a decision."

"He's kind of had a lot of, wouldn't say, Basketball bad luck... He went to Arizona and had to switch up. He went to UCLA because Steve Alford was going to be there. He gets transferred, and a new guy comes in."

"And then we go to LSU where I thought they would take care of him, but they didn't. They have their own problems down there."

"I hope wherever he goes, he gets a shot. Because what people don't know... and I know, is that I have a 'Giannis with a jumpshop.' Hopefully, he gets to go to a place where he can showcase his talents and people can see who he really is."

Pretty sure he would play if he had stayed, the whole rosters gone. If he thought he should get more from an NIL deal that wouldn’t make sense considering how much he donates. In my view it doesn’t make much rational sense leaving his situation at LSU his final year.

Don't know anything about his son. Is he any good?

This doesn't have anything to do with money. It sounds more like development and playing time.

Sharif is by all accounts a contributing player and really good rebounder. He also has had injuries that kept him either off the court or rusty. We would have all liked to see more of him on the floor. If he stays he will probably be a starter next year.

Wish Shaq would clarify what he meant. Did he mean Wade did not give his son time to shoot his jumper or not any NIL deal? Kind of left scratching your head. If his son was the best, he’d be playing.

LOL...old washed up dad throwing shade for his consistently UNDERACHIEVING son. Shocker that he isn't hungrier. He had millions as a teenager from.a serial cheating father. I wonder why he's not willing to out in work frick off Shaq

What was he expecting LSU to do to "take care of him"? Money? Isn't that why the program is it's current state? And does Shaq's son really need money? If he wants him to develop as a player, just stay somewhere and play.

honestly that’s why it’s so rare that hof players kids are really good. it’s hard to raise kids in wealthy surburbs that are hungry, because they are not

I'd beg to differ. The Blue Jays have 2 sons of Hall of Famers on their roster right now. Maybe basketball players are just lazy.

The best players play it’s that simple. Your son isn’t as good as you think big guy! He’s n average college basketball player.

I'm glad I met Shaq and 2 autos this year because I very seriously doubt he sets foot in the PMAC again anytime soon

why transfer now, he could get plenty of playing time at LSU. He could be in the starting five and be the first off the bench as well. lol

Wade probably refused to give him any money because of how much money his Dad has.

He had a great opportunity to play under this new staff. I think both Shaq and his son needs to grow up. Seems like he keeps transferring to avoid the tough situations.

Shaq has always represented himself as an LSU ambassador. If that is (or was) the case, he should have done this directly to the sources of his disappointment. A public call out is such a bitch move.

Should`ve stayed here. Would`ve gotten the opportunity to play more and focus on his academics with a lot of the other guys leaving. Could have been an opportunity for him to do what you didn`t which is graduate before going pro. You`ve said it in the past, that your kids aren`t rich you are. He needs to stay in college from what I've witnessed. Hope he turns out to be a great person like you seem to be, but it wasn`t on LSU to do him any favors.

WTF would he stay at LSU? IF he started it'd be for a bottom feeding Team w/ZERO shot at any type of postseason play to showcase ur skills to the Nation on National TV?

"He's a grown man. Make a decision." "LSU didn't take care of him." Love you Shaq but your son can't be a grown man and a titty baby at the same time.
