Dual threat vs Mobile QB

Posted by Mikes revenge on 10/24/25 at 3:46 pm
Time to state the obvious. A traditional “Dual threat “ QB is one that is literally a part of the running game, running on designed plays and runs 10-15 x per game. We don’t need that. What we need is a MOBILE QB that can move the pocket and extend plays with his feet, like all the other successful teams that run a spread offense. We don’t have that in Nuss. He has no wheels, and his gun slinger arm is not firing on all cylinders. We need a QB that can run for 6-8 yds and baseball slide every now and then, which keeps the line backers honest, and the secondary off our receivers.
Just wish MVB could at least get one set of downs or come in for short yardage plays. I guess you can’t pull out your senior, high dollar NIL QB like A&M had to last year. Look what Marcell Reed did when he came in for Weigman.

re: Run the ball

True, but you still need to actually try to run it or you’ll never know if they can stop it. Analytics says that you should be able to run it against 3 man front, but you have to actually attempt to run the ball, not just run once and pass twice and punt.

Run the ball

We keep hearing that “we want to establish the run” or “get the run game going”. Well, how do you do that if we keep passing ? Here’s a thought: Why not run the ball 3 times in a row and get a first down or punt ? Play field position with our good defense. If we run more, even if we have to punt sometimes, that’s ok , because their defense will have to actually think that we might be running on a given play, and that, in and of itself , will open up passing lanes. If not, teams will just play rush 3 all night and do what OM did. We really are handicapped without a QB that can can tuck it a few times a game and keep a defense honest.

re: Rant MDs, treating an ab strain

Nuss has been here for 5 yrs. He stayed here all that time and now he is in his final year getting ready for Sunday football. If he gets benched, his draft stock goes down. I hope the coaching staff is not so loyal to him at the expense of what’s best for winning. This S.C. game will answer that question. Hopefully, the OL can get a running game going and give Nuss the time to shine with dropping some dimes.
How ‘bout nnnooo ! He’s nicked.
CLM would hardly ever say anything about a player’s injury except that he was “nicked”. Of course, Coach Miles was never known for his precise articulation of the English language. ??
Didn’t Miles Brennan have some of kind similar abdominal strain issue ?
At least he doesn’t sound like the Ole Miss announcer. It’s pretty bad. He sounds like a humanoid robot speaking and it is usually at a very loud volume, which reverberates in the stands.

More Harlem Berry

Did anyone see the explosive run Harlem had when he got in to the rotation? He did a cutback, and went at least 20 yards. His extra gear had him leaving some in the dust.
He needs more touches for sure. We will see more of him against Florida, I hope.

Lack of penalities

Another good thing about the Clemson game was we had very few penalties, especially in a loud stadium, and being the first game of the yr. Was concerned with a new offensive line and really loud stadium, that we would have a number of procedure or holding penalties, but that wasn’t the case. Refreshing to see LSU being very disciplined for their first game away.
