Let’s say your a committee member and ND loses to Miami by a point next year.

Would you be totally in the wrong to say I’m not voting this team in the top 12 because this schedule is like Miami (Ohio) basketball so I have no clue if they are good. This is assuming that there opponents arent some sleeping Indiana’s waiting to Happen or something but I doubt it. I think the Irish should be forced to go undefeated this year as an independent in charge of the scheduling for every game. Unless they have proof that osu, bama, lsu, Texas, Indiana, Georgia, or any other top team just absolutely refused to play them…..losing only to Miami and finishing out that schedule is accomplishing nothing. They would have to replace me as a juror. (And I expect Christobal to come back down to earth anyway which would make Miami even a less than) just judging them on their finish last year

If I could, I’d put my mortgage on ND making the playoff. They are going to be like preseason #3 at worst and they are media darlings this year (and every year).
If/when they move to 24 teams it’s going to be the ND invitational

A one loss Notre Dame, with that one loss being to Northern Illinois, made the playoffs 2 years ago. I promise you if their only loss is by 1 point to Miami they're getting in

And made the national championship game.
With a 12 team playoff it would take some absolute chaos, that may not even be mathematically possible for ND to not make it at 11-1.

I would. ND plays a cake schedule and avoids a conference championship. If they lost even one game, I would keep them out

One loss to Miami and ND is for sure in. Miami made it last year with two losses riding the coattails of that opening week win over ND. What was their next best regular season win? Pitt? NC State? South Florida?

This is a ridiculous overexaggeration. Miami (OH) played literally 0 power conference teams last season until the NCAA Tourney. Their SOS was 250th out of 365 teams (and that’s after the two NCAA Tourney games are factored in). ND still plays 10 power conference games out of 12, a projected top-10 team and three projected top-25 teams. Schedule is projected to be 56th out of 138. It’s a really bad Power 4 schedule but it’s still a Power 4 schedule.
12-0 or 11-1 ND will be in and should be in. 10-2 ND probably won’t. That’s fair.

I didn't read all that but the Notre Dame Quittin' Irish need to be left out of the next 10 playoffs as a penalty for skipping the Pop Tarts Bowl.

You can, you would just be betting a shitload of money to win very little
They are leading the odds to make the playoff at -800, with the next two being Ohio state and Indiana at -360

An 11-1 Notre Dame is definitely getting in, especially with a 1-point loss to Miami. Miami, again, is going to be a really good team.
If Notre Dame loses another (BYU, SMU, Wisconsin, Michigan State …. The opponent doesn’t matter), they should, again, be bounced from the Playoff. The schedule is that bad this year.
When BYU and SMU are marquee games, you know it’s a rough schedule. Those are 5,6 win teams in the SEC. Those are the formidable to the extent that South Carolina, Kentucky, MS State and perhaps Mizzou are formidable. They’re decent, but far, far from top 15 caliber.
We saw what SMU did against Penn State…
We saw BYU get two cracks at Texas Tech. They lost by an average of what, 32-7? In turn, we saw Texas Tech be totally outclassed and dominated by Oregon the following week….
Even though they’re ranked (due to easy conference schedules), those two are not top 15 caliber teams.

Why… the playoffs are 12 teams. You’re not gonna have 11 that are undefeated or one loss. A 2 loss team will have to get in
And yeah ND probably still brings ratings and that still matters. It will always matter. A lot of those ratings are haters praying on ND’s downfall
