A long piece in the Daily Mail with lots of pictures. Not much news but it's a good read if you are a fan of hers.

Some of us might remember the incident in the '80s that she mentions. That would have included her canceling a much anticipated show two years in a row at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

I never understood why she is famous in the first place. She has one “hit” in 1981 (9 to 5). Since then, she just sponsors an overpriced cheugy tourist trap.

In an August 2020 Billboard interview, country music legend Dolly Parton voiced her support for the Black Lives Matter movement, stating: “I understand people having to make themselves known and felt and seen. And of course Black lives matter. Do we think our little white asses are the only ones that matter? No!”
quote:
During the same period, Parton discussed her 2018 decision to drop the word "Dixie" from her Dixie Stampede dinner attraction, changing it to Dolly Parton’s Stampede

She's done more philanthropically for people in the southeast than almost any other person over the last 40 years.

Everybody I know who's been there thinks its a total letdown. Take a normal truck stop, add lots of merch, play Dolly songs on the radio... There's plenty of better truck stops in Louisiana.

She had several tunes with Kenny Rogers. She was in a Billy Ray Cyrus video.

I loved that Truckstop the way it was before. I always stopped in there on my way to Nashville for their "Fried smoked bologna sandwiches" They were delicious. They don't have them anymore.
I love that area and am looking for a place near there currently.

Her newer stuff with Zach Williams is awesome and she still sounds amazing. Anyone hating on Dolly is a communist, lol.

Dumb and gay. Probably doesn't get the appeal of Sydney Sweeney either.
He should change his name to Aggyhold.

What she started for her home county (Sevier) to send books to pre-school children, each month until they entered first grade was an approach to encouraging literacy that no one else had thought of.
Since then Imagination Library has grown and grown.
Imagination Library
It is so far from "one hit wonder" as to demand your respect.

FYI, Dollar General stocks Dolly Parton body/hair fragrance mist.

Not to mention that even if you strictly talk songs, she’s nowhere close to a one hit wonder. And on top of her own hits, she wrote one of the biggest singles of all time.

I tell everyone who has a new baby about that. It's an awesome program.
