Look, I get the fitness ‘influencer’ in superb shape or the personal trainer doing it for advertisement type stuff. That’s just the world we live in and if that’s their profession then go for it.

I don’t get the OT 4 with a tripod set up next to her filming her entire workout. Also the average looking 30something skinny guy doing the same.

Help me understand this OT fam?

I know a 64yr old man who films in the gym and has strangers film his sprints at the track.

It’s not just thots.

Remote coaches that review their video to evaluate their form and provide feedback.

Narcissism is a personality style or trait set marked by a grandiose sense of self-importance, a constant need for admiration.

Why would a C-suite executive not have a home gym? Or at least a C-suite level office gym?

she's doing it so other fat chicks can see her on instagram and think that's what women who work out are supposed to look. she adds some content in the caption about not being able to lose weight due to genetics, medication, or pcos and ends up with 5 million views.

I see dudes doing the same type of sh*t. Usually to sell herbalife or something like that

I don’t think that’s it at all. Otherwise just film a set or two.

I am less fascinated by the people who record and am more interested in who the hell watches these videos?

I occasionally have someone record my golf swing so I can review and correct deficiencies. I would never expect someone else to watch that.

This especially goes for everyone filming a fireworks show or a song at a concert. No one wants to see that shite later. Live in the moment. This goes triple for all the women who need to take a group photo every single damn time we go to a bar or a restaurant. We don't need a pic of that.

I actually like going to the gym and being surrounded by others working out. Cut it up in the afternoon with the kids that can’t bench as much as the old guy.

One of the best ways to improve form in any athletic endeavor is by filming yourself and reviewing it or having a coach critique it.

This guy and the obese gym goers that film are most likely doing it for the morale support when they post it. Trying to track their gains/losses and using the internet for encouragement. I don't agree with it, but I get it.

Definitely better than the wannabe thot looking for any evidence that someone happened to glance their way as the slow the video down to 240 fps and finally found evidence of a blink.

I would definitely get in trouble at a public gym because I'm a people watcher and I like to check out other people doing sets to see if they are doing something different than I am, then I ask.

I also know if I look at my phone for anything other than to jot notes I will over rest between sets.

Some people do use video for their training to improve. It can be very helpful to observe how your form is and where you are making mistakes.

Sometimes you might want to document a milestone. I have taken a couple videos when i hit a PR i was particularly proud of.

and then, sometimes people are just idiots.

admittedly, a whole shoot setup with tripod and all for any of these reasons is a little silly.

Again, they aren’t filming some obscure exercise. They’re filming something they can already see in the mirror in front of them if form is bad.

Like another said, I’ll film a few swings at the driving range when something is off because I can’t see my swing. I don’t film my whole round of golf and post it on social media if I’m a 20 handicap (I’m actually a 4.1 btw)

Also not talking about someone filming a max attempt. I’m talking the OT 4 literally live streaming or filming her entire workout.

Pay attention people!
