Hey OB,

I was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction on hunting club openings around the St. Francisville area.

My son and I have been hunting with a buddy of mine up in Woodville for several years, but he's selling the property, so we're on the hunt for a new place. We live in the Baton Rouge area and would love to find something within a reasonable drive.

Ideally, we'd find a club with an opening where I could set up a trailer for a camp. We're really just looking for a laid-back spot to get away on weekends, spend some time outdoors, maybe see a deer or two, cook a good meal, and enjoy a little bourbon around the campfire.

If you know of any clubs or have any suggestions, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Let's see.....am I serious?

I am serious about doing research to try to find an opportunity. I am serious about posting on a forum with hundreds of fellow hunters who may know of openings in the area. I am serious about searching on Louisiana Sportsman as well to find potential openings. Am I reaching out to folks that I know to inquire about openings, yes I am.

Yes, I guess I am serious.

Appreciate any "serious" responses from the OB.

You and every person in the triangle of Hammond to Lafayette to New Orleans are looking for the same thing.

Okay here is my serious response.

Unless you have a LOT of money to spend or marry a man or women that their family has property in that area; you are wasting your time. Which everyone knows.

Lists for clubs in ths area don't exist. Memberships get passed down to kids.

You have 500K or more to buy property. You might find 40-60 acres.

You interested in a place around Centerville? Not that much further from BR.

Not sure why the link is not working but if you go back 4-5 pages you can find the thread.

It will be way easier and cheaper to find a club just over the state line. Very very difficult to find land to lease in the St. Francisville area and in my honest opinion its way over priced. The hunting there is still pretty good but I dont find it nearly worth the $45-$65 per acre a lot of the land owners are asking.

Also check out the clubs around Lettsworth/Bachelor. Ole Miss and Raccourci island usually have an opening or two. Good deer herds but flooding can be an issue.

Nailed it. Price is crazy for St Francisville area. I grew up hunting Wakefield, Bains, and 61. Back in the 90s and early 2000s it was phenomenal. Then everyone from BR bought 10 acres, threw up a feeder and stand in their backyard and it went downhill. I moved to St Helena and spent a third of the money and still see as many deer. Not necessarily the quality of bucks, but with the hogs and turkey and my kids now it is way better.

Land prices in E. fel are getting high. Saw 84 acres of open pasture pop up in Ethel yesterday for 840K.
