What cruise destinations have you done?

Last year we did an Alaskan cruise and I loved it. I think I'm one of those people that just likes being on a cruise.
Looking for ideas for 2027....when and where have you gone on a cruise that you'd recommend?

Did Caribbean and Alaska. Friday we do Spain, Italy, and France. I want to do the Baltic too.

We obviously have loved doing Viking Cruises. 7 River / 3 Ocean: 10 Total. Doing a Viking Ocean Cruise next month, starting in Vancouver and up in Alaska.
Obviously would depend on where you want to go, how much time you have, budget etc. Each had it's own unique attractions. I would say, as a "theme", however, doing a Christmas Market Cruise is special.
European Christmas markets typically open in late November, right around the time Americans finish Thanksgiving. It’s not tied to the holiday — Europe doesn’t celebrate it — but the timing lines up because most markets launch during the last week of November as the Christmas season and Advent begin.
Target around Thanksgiving to first week of December for best prices.
River Cruises
- Danube Waltz — Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary
- Rhine Getaway — Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland
- Portugal’s River of Gold — Portugal
- Paris & The Heart of Normandy — France
- Christmas Along the Elbe — Germany, Czech Republic
- Passage to Eastern Europe — Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria
- Romantic Danube — Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary
Ocean Cruises
- Empires of the Mediterranean — Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece
- Iceland’s Majestic Landscapes — Iceland

Seven day Western Caribbean Cruise out of Long Beach. Ports were Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco and Cabo San Lucas.

Last year we did a 7 night Greek Isles and Turkey cruise. In June, we did an 10 night Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Greece cruise. In October, we’re doing a 12 night Best of Japan cruise.

Two to Alaska. Several to the Caribbean. Pacific coast of Mexico. New England and Canada. Mediterranean. Transatlantic crossing. European river cruises.
My all time favorite was a two week Viking cruise that sailed both the Rhine and the Danube. That was last year Viking Grand European.
My second favorite was one we just took in April. Viking Empires of the Mediterranean ocean cruise that went from Athens to Venice.
We are hooked on Viking.

I would like to hear Nole Man’s answer to that question because he is the expert on the subject of Viking cruises. We have Provence to Burgundy scheduled for next year. We were considering the Portugal cruise but it appeared to us that many of the attractions were not directly connected with the boat. They are bus rides away and the first few nights are spent in a hotel. ???

My favorite Viking river cruise so far has been the Danube Waltz on Aegir last November. The timing was great — cooler weather, quieter cities, and the Christmas markets were just starting to open. It gave the whole trip a relaxed, early-holiday vibe that made the Danube feel even better to explore.
Second: Our pre-cruise stop in Brasov was the perfect way to start the trip. I already was excited about going to Romania going in, and seeing Brasov’s old town in person just confirmed it. Then the Passage to Eastern Europe on Modi carried us to Belgrade, which ended up being one of my favorite stops — great energy, interesting history, and a totally different feel from the rest of the itinerary. Cultural immersion!

That is way west of the Western Caribbean.
That Pacific Coast of Mexico route was the first cruise I ever went on.
