Is this even a thing today? I remember threads about TDers doing this way back in the day but I'm sure things have changed. Does anyone do this or do you just buy the drink pass? If so, what works now?

Put them in the pockets of your clothes in your suitcase. They check quickly and usually don't look that hard.

I think they have caught on to this, especially with them banning weed and likely searching bags. The old way was to bring bottled water or shampoo bottles with your liquor of choice.

Yep, still done on every cruise line. Some more than others but there are always people sneaking it on.

Years back we were going on our 1st cruise, they said we could each bring a bottle of wine with us. But it had to stay in our cabin, no problem. Local watering hole we frequent talked with the bartender. Some bottles of wine the foil cover would easily slip off. She kept 2 empties for us, foil and cork. I drink rum, wife likes vodka. Filled them, corked and foil back on. They checked luggage, left a paper reminding to keep them in our cabin. All good.

Some bottle checkers are better than others for looking for the cheap Amazon foil and heat shrink. Some will shake the bottle and look at the bubbles or check for color of the liquid, but this is still by far the easiest way to go if you can do a good job or making it look sealed and like wine.

I don't bother with it anymore. I married into points and get 5 free drinks and take some of hers too lol.

I tried this years ago and no matter how many times or different ways I washed out the shampoo bottles you can't get the taste out of it and it was dumped. Maybe try the booze binoculars.

The Captain's suite on the Liberty was nice. Carnival may be trashy but when you have two rooms two bathrooms and a balcony you can dine in and lounge in actual lounge chairs is pretty nice. But now I'm spoiled because I can't afford that class in a nicer ship or better line.

Just did it on royal carribean cruise last week, two 1/5ths in rum runners wrapped in clothes. With how quick they need to get bags on the boat, i think they pick out random bags to check.

What about connecting ocean view balcony rooms? We do that just for me, myself and daughter. There is a partition between the balconies we can open and the extra bathroom is clutch.

I did that when I was married got one for us and one for the kids. Though the kids got an inside room and wet for a balcony. They didn't have a door between them but we're across from each other.

yup, definitely learned about those too late

I also once tried the "put vodka in a water bottle at one of our ports of call" trick and they immediately caught that. They just shake it and look at the bubbles...they rise slower in booze than water.

How poor are people who need to think about something like this? Life must be exhausting.
