In Cincinnati- What to Do?
Posted by CuseTiger on 5/15/22 at 7:11 pm01
Out this way til Thursday for work, any must sees, does, or eats in the area besides Graeter's ice cream? Going to the reds stadium for a look as well. Took a little winding road down by the Ohio River on my way from the airport due to a crash on 71, nice small town Kentucky feel

Check out the Over-the-Rhein area. Rheingeist brewery is a cool place to hang out and have great craft beer.
The Reds are on the road all week although you aren’t missing much they are the worst team in baseball this year.
As far as dining, Montgomery Inn is a personal favorite of mine. If you are really looking for something nice try Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse. It’s pricey though.
Across the river on the Kentucky side there is Newport on the Levee which has a few bars and a great view of the skyline. I love Cincinnati

City Barbeque and Catering 8026 Burlington Pike Florence KY out by the airport has some good BBQ. My inlaws live in the Florence area and I was skeptical of BBQ in the Cincinnati area after having the ribs at Montgomery Inn. City BBQ was on point. Better than most of BBQ joints in N MS where I live.

their HOF is located next to the stadium, worth a visit
There’s a big debate about two restaurants takes on Chili there.
Yup.
Chili moves the Cincinnati needle.
Skyline vs Gold Star
Dorothy, we’re not in Kansas anymore!
Have a good trip, the Zoo is supposed to be good there too.
Thanks for everything you do here.

Urban Artifact Brewing is top notch. It's located in the basement of a church which is pretty cool in itself. Listermann is another great brewery. Rhiengist is an awesome brewery but meh beer. Still such a cool location.
The Eagle OTR has an amazing friend chicken. Sounds odd but it's great southern food.

Newport on the river has some nice restaurants and the aquarium and shopping.
Skyline Chili is way overrated.

In a weekend celebration in June 2016, Pete Rose was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame while his 14 became the 11th uniform number to be retired by the club. The Cincinnati native played for the Reds from 1963-1978 and again from 1984-86 and still ranks as the franchise's all-time leader in games (2,722), plate appearances (12,344), runs (1,741), hits (3,358), singles (2,490), doubles (601), total bases (4,645) and walks (1,210). His 4,256 career hits are the most in Major League history. Rose was a 17-time National League All-Star, including 13 times while playing for Cincinnati. He was the 1963 Rookie of the Year, 1973 Most Valuable Player, a 3-time batting champion and 2-time Rawlings Gold Glove Award winner. In 1975 and 1976, Rose captained the Big Red Machine to World Series championships over the Yankees and Red Sox and in '76 was named the Fall Classic's MVP. His 44-game hitting streak in 1978 still stands as the third-longest in Major League history.

I’ve only been there a few times for Reds and a Bengals game. I enjoyed:
Incline House
Rhinegeist Brewery
Bircus Brewing (across river in Ludlow, KY)
The view of downtown from the Drees Pavilion at Devou Park (also KY side)

I second Rheingeist Brewery and Montgomery Inn (ribs).
I would do Skyline once for lunch just to say you did. I don't think it's great (although not terrible) but you should try it; it's a Cincinnati staple. Silver Ladle is also a good lunch spot; has a lot of diner-type foods.
Fountain Square in the heart of downtown is pretty nice just to walk around a bit. If you head down near the riverfront near the football/baseball stadiums, there are also some nice parks that span a mile or two east of the stadiums along the river.
The Cincinnati Zoo is one of the best in America, but I'm assuming if you're in town for work and leaving Thursday, you won't have time for that. Ditto Kings Island, which is a pretty solid amusement park (though pales in comparison to its fellow Ohio counterpart Cedar Point).
