Single with an adventurous girlfriend.
I’m a teacher so I’m off in the summer, and she was also off last summer.
So I was gone for like 30 out of 34 days from late June-July.

I'd rather travel than have a nice house
It's a matter of priorities. I'm single late 20s and also have a job that gives me quite a bit of PTO. Usually am budget oriented.

credit card points
This is also huge. If you aren’t taking advantage of some of the ridiculous CC offers these days, you are seriously missing out. Don’t let the old “credit cards are bad” talk scare you from taking advantage.

This too. Free hotels, flights, and miscellaneous travel credits are easily attained.
There’s an app called Plastiq that allows you to pay your mortgage, auto payment, etc. with a credit card making spending requirements for points worry free.
Example: Last year I spent $3,000 in three months on my Barclaycard and got $500 toward any kind of travel.
Chase Hyatt: spend 2k in three months and get a free two nights. Stayed in Beaver Creek, CO for free ($850 value).

We are married, no kids. Successful enough (in our minds).
Both travel a lot for work, so lots of AA miles and ExPlat status.
Based out of DFW, so lots of options for direct flights.
We also take full advantage of Amex Plat cards (business and personal) benefits and points, which add up in a hurry. Mrs. Crickets uses her AA Mastercard for additional miles, too.
And...we just really, really like to travel.
This board has been a GREAT resource, as well. Thanks to all that contribute--it makes a difference!
ETA: forgot about Marriott points and benefits. Those are a huge help (Ritz and boutique properties along with upgrades).
Downside: we travel an eff-ton on business.

Dumb question, but if I have Marriott points, how can I go about using them to book a starwood property? Is it just a simple task of transferring the points over to an SPG account and then booking?

Yes, but it's a terrible redemption. 3 Marriott points equals 1 Starwood point. The transfer also takes a minimum of five business days.

I live in Paris for work. I unfortunately don't get to travel to South America or Asia really. Intereuropean travel is pretty cheap. I'm single, work for myself which allows flexibility, and make good money. 3 kids, a wife, and a home would stop all that haha.
Also, before doing what I do now, I was still able to travel often because I knew how to price things out. Never more than $700 for roundtrip overseas. Shopped affordable accommodations (you save by not doing fancy hotels), and would buy from local grocery stores all my food and wine to save money (and only do some well research restaurants and street food).

Married, with no kids. I travel for work at times, and my wife goes to conferences and training events that I tag along to. When we travel for work, we typically extend our trips for a few days of recreation.

Single, late 40's. I did my time and now my career allows it.

Since August I have spent a week in South Texas, a week in Miami, a week in Orlando, 3 weeks in the Virgin Islands and about 10 days in Puerto Rico. Oh, but I did all of that through work.
My point is some of this travel you probably see listed here isn't always vacation. Many people have jobs where travel is just part of what they signed up for. I did take a personal vacation this week for a change (10 days hiking through the Smokies). Most years I do not travel anywhere near this much, btw.

Single, 37, no kids, make good money. Between credit card reward points and disposable income, it's not hard for me to travel anywhere in the US or internationally close by. I don't travel for work, but I'm still going through DIA to fly somewhere once or twice a month on average.
My main travel restriction is work PTO. 4 weeks a year can go very quickly. So the majority of my trips are weekend getaways really. Either Thurs night to Sunday night, or Friday afternoon to Sunday night. I only work half day Fridays so it's either only 4 hrs PTO to take a Friday off, or I just fly out after lunch on Friday without a hit to my PTO. A lot of times, the early (5-7am) Friday morning flights are the cheapest ($ or points) to book and I'm usually at my destination with a full day ahead.
Hell, I just booked two weekend trips for next month yesterday morning and only had to shell out about $30 between all 4 flights I booked.

My oldest is now in 10th grade and I'm already dreaming about some of the nice trips the wife and I can start taking when she's out of college. Spending $14,000 a year on tuition right now while trying to invest for retirement does limit the traveling.
And as others have said, the rewards thing is a game changer. I'm working on a nice trip to Napa next fall and it looks like the flight and hotel stay will both be free, which leaves a lot of money to spend on excellent meals and other activities.

I've had a down couple years with London being my highlight. In 35, single, no kids, pay is very generous, make my own schedule, and I just tell my boss I'm taking more time off. The only thing holding me back was having to spend more on a house than I wanted
