I have a Cobra 700i. It has an app called DriveSmarter, which alerts you when other people with Cobras have driven through an area and gotten an alert 15-20m before you. It'll say something along the lines of "Ka Smart Alert" and then on Carplay you can see that it's 4100 feet away, etc. It'll throw a fair amount of false positives in urban areas when you're on an interstate, but there have been popo with radar on, not on I-10, but passing under it.

Great mount, you can change the display colors through the app, and useful alert ranges, etc.

Thanks...good info. Have also heard the Escort Max $800 unit does NOT sync with any Verizon based smart phone...that would be a NO from me given the CONSTANT updates required for optimum performance !

Haven’t used the radar detector in years. Waze does a good enough job for me these days.

Not true, recently upgraded to Escort Redline 360c and it works great on my Verizon Pixel. Not nearly as many false positives from other car's lane departure systems and door openers as the old Max360.

Do people still live in rural areas? Waze won't save you if you are the only one on the road.

Especially considering it won't help you that much. How far do you have to go to save more than ten minutes? You have to be driving over 200 miles to save any significant amount of time, and if you're going 90 that means you're weaving in and out of traffic driving like a nut. Really hope you're not on your phone, too.

This is the kind of crap that statistically causes "accidents" which are not really accidents if you're doing 20 over, distracted, and driving like a dick.

Then you have your crash and block the freeway. We LOVE when the basin bridges on I-10 are blocked because some dickhead crashed. That's awesome.

Waze won’t always help if you are traveling the byways or rural roads. A very good radar detector still has its place for functionality and detection.

I'm a fan of the Uniden R3. I have 3 of them and went with the R4 to be able to update via wifi and use an app. But the R3 is sufficient. It gives plenty of notice.
