Carry on only if I can get away with it, but my bag easily fits. I’ve had checked bags lost/delayed multiple times, and more than the cost, I don’t want the headache. I think the issue overall, is the general population is less courteous and less self aware than I’ve ever seen. It seems like the decline in decency has accelerated over the last 10 years.

How so? Carry on makes everything quicker and more efficient. No waiting in long lines to drop off luggage, no hoping they don’t lose it, no waiting to pick it up.
I never check a bag unless I’m going somewhere for a week or more and it makes life insanely easier IMO

At least double that. But the airlines deserve the most blame in this overhead luggage stupidity. They created this system with charges for checking luggage. And then cut down their schedule until nearly every flight is full. There is zero chance of having enough carry on space.
And yes, more people on the plane are entitled assholes which makes it that much worse.

Backpack (personal item) and checked bag only
This should be required of all passengers. Airlines should charge extra for overhead bin storage & make checked bags completely free.
