70 was fine except by the tunnels. It’s absolutely dumping at Breck right now. You can notice the difference between run!

Breck is over 50 inches in the last week....over 130 inches on the season. Excellent start.

Vail back bowls yesterday had snow up to my hips. It was insane.

It also took us 5 hours to drive from Vail to crested butte. Expecting 4-6” at the butte today.

I got these. LINK for the Jeep. On this trip they’ve seen 2 huge snow storms, vail pass, battle mountain pass and monarch pass. All at night in white our conditions with very little plowed roads. Still stopped on a dime. They have been great so far.

Great A/T tires in all conditions.
I’ve driven about 250K miles on them between previous and current truck.

Back to travel...
Headed to Tahoe on Jan 30 for 12 days. Hopefully it’ll be my first trip of the season.
Skiing Heavenly, Kirkwood, and possibly Northstar.

How often does i70 actually shut down? We are heading to keystone in the middle of January. If i70 is shut down for whatever reason are we just SOL?

We’re going to Breckenridge tomorrow — taking shuttle from Denver airport. Should we be fine?

Per week?

It shuts down officially if something happens like a rockslide or avalanche and other times it effectively shut down. If Lovepass Pass shuts down they have to convoy hazardous material trucks through the tunnel. I think it closed officially in sections 2 times since Thanksgiving.

285 is a way around but it’s a good but farther and a 2 lane highway most of the way.

You should be fine. The forecast is clear for the next several days.

Not often. DOT works hard to keep it open during the snow storms.

Any word on how Whistler is looking? I’ve been checking Instagram (not the resort Instagram) and it looks like they’ve got decent snow, but I’ve seen complaints online about no snow.

Yesterday was some of the deepest snow I've ever ski'd at Jackson Hole. 2020 has been kind to the Tetons so far.

Been soso in northern colorado this season. Couple of nice storms but mild in between. I was at Vail last weekend where it was mid 40s and sunny. The lower parts of the western side(Cascade and Born Free) had rocks and grass showing.

Nothing like unexpected obstacles when you’re flying down the mountain.
Fun!

Headed to Tahoe for Heavenly and Kirkwood on Jan 30 for 12 days.
Can’t wait.

Just got back from Utah. Park city is a clusterfrick with the amount of people. May slack off some with the holidays ending, but the amount of fresh powder may override that. Most powder they've had in a decade.

We ended up going up to Nordic Valley/Powder Mountain outside of Ogden. Less traffic, and still the same great powder. My brother said they've been getting lots of snow in the valley, which means tons in the mountains.

My buddy lives in Avon part time(works at Vail Hospital) and went to BC on Monday. He skied for 4 hrs before he was toasted. Pics he sent looks like it is effing deep in the trees. I have lived here for 10 years and still haven't been to BC. I keep saying I am gonna go but .....ya know.

Think I am headed up to CB this long weekend. Supposed to have a storm coming in Friday then stay cold for the weekend.
